Title: permanent server available Post by: baud123 on December 11, 2006, 08:18:02 PM Hi,
a big thanks to leileilol A permanent server is now available for openarena For archiving purpose, I had the following difficulties to set it up : - the server has a grsec kernel, see this post http://forums.grsecurity.net/viewtopic.php?p=2568 use chpax do this to disable pax noexec protection on quake 3: chpax -sp /home/games/openarena/ioq3ded.i386 - there are 3 interfaces declared, so the server used 3 IP addresses (and the client could not find the server "awaiting challenge" 1 2 3 ... and on the server side, corresponding messages "Not authorizing client due to lack of auth server" => use seta net_ip "213.161.192.xx" - to have maps rotating, I used http://tldp.org/HOWTO/archived/Game-Server-HOWTO/quake3.html (replace maps names by available maps on the server, given by /dir map) it became effective by adding the command vstr m1 at the end of config.cfg - seems the g_gametype is not the same as for QuakeIII : 1 is for 1vs1, 2 for deathmatch - the command to launch it is ./ioq3ded.i386 +set dedicated 2 +exec configtf.cfg (dedicated = 2 as this is an internet server) enjoy! Let me know if new maps should be added or a new mode. I think I'll add a CTF which is fun :p BTW, you'll find in french all I did : http://faq.tuxfamily.org/wakka.php?wiki=JeuxOpenArena Title: Re: permanent server available Post by: jdodson on December 14, 2006, 09:56:05 PM Config for setting up bots:
put this in your server config file to enable bots to chat: seta bot_nochat 0 create a bot.cfg file with these contents(i default to four bots, they exit when people enter the game): seta bot_enable 1 seta bot_minplayers 4 My launcher line(embedded in a script): ioq3ded.i386 +set dedicated 2 +exec server_config.cfg +exec bot.cfg Title: Re: permanent server available Post by: baud123 on December 14, 2006, 10:21:57 PM thanks for the bots, I'll configure some tomorrow
BTW, I've translated the page to english http://faq.tuxfamily.org/wakka.php?wiki=GamesOpenArena If you find interesting documentation, just add it. We may use http://scratchpad.wikia.com/wiki/OpenArena as well ;-) there's some documentation about setting up a server at http://scratchpad.wikia.com/wiki/OpenArena/servers |
