Hello everybody. I'm new here. I'm from Italy, so sorry for my English. Open Arena is a great project.
Now my problem. The single player mode works great, but when I chose multiplayer, after choosing the server, the game loads the arena, shows me it for about 1 second and then the game closes and back to desktop. I am using Vista 32 bit, a core 2 cpu and Ati video card. Here's the stderr.txt, hope it can help to solve... Let me know. Thanks.

Looks like something similar to Windows Vista premium 64bit.

Unfortunately not a lot of people using Vista, so we'll have to see.  (Thank you for the stderr.txt.)

Hi,

Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit

I have also same problem, except heres what happens:

=================================
play first map of single player, everythying is fine,

play second map, agressor, everything loads then
openarena closes to desktop, the same happens when
 I try to connect to a multiplayer game
=================================

heres what I have done so far, after reading from the forums etc:

================================
1. run in windows XP compatibilty mode
2. added the following to command line shortcut:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\openarena-0.8.0\openarena.exe" "+set net_enabled 1" "-nosound"
================================

so it gets passed the ipv6 problem,

at this stage my stderr reports the following:

================================
...loaded 1209 faces, 0 meshes, 0 trisurfs, 74 flares
WARNING: reused image textures/flares/flarey.tga with mixed glWrapClampMode parm

Received signal 11, exiting...
----- CL_Shutdown -----
RE_Shutdown( 1 )
-----------------------
----- Server Shutdown (Signal caught) -----
==== ShutdownGame ====
AAS shutdown.
---------------------------
================================

is this a problem with the jenna model? if so is there a pak file replacement?

regards

Hi,

ok all working now Smiley

Windows Vista Home premium 64 bit - ASUS ATI 4850
====================================
1. windows xp compatibilty mode
2. the following shortcut on my desktop:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\openarena-0.8.0\openarena.exe" "+set net_enabled 1" "-nosound"

3. also set the executable to have win xp compatabilty.
4. deleted the following file:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\OpenArena\qkey

5.deleted the following folder:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\OpenArena\baseoa

started playing fine (these files get recreated)

then gradually started changing things in graphics and display.

====================================

I hope this helps,

Best Wishes

Cool.

Any idea of what more specifically caused it, if you're willing to find out?  (like backing up your AppData\Roaming\OpenArena directory and narrowing it down until it does)

(It could "just" be net_enabled 1, or nosound, or XP compatibility + that, etc.)

Hi,

All those things help to get passed different issues,

so I did the following test:

===========================
1. installed against my machine:

Q6600 - Windows Vista Home Basic 64bit
ATI 3870X2
===========================

absolutely No issues... typical (when i say this , i installed in exactly the same way, ramped up, with flares on) however..  using 8.5 ATI catalyst driver, i will try 8.8

so I went back to the customers PC, and ran a series of change tests in the SYSTEM config area, it turns out that by enabling:

flares to ON

causes the close to desktop. Map1 of single player is fine, Map2 agressor is not fine, or is multiplayer, with flares enabled and ATI 8.8 drivers,

Best Wishes
