Hi.
I really don't know what the hell that .zip file is for ? About 300 MB of some files that have no informatiom of usage ... ?
I wanted to have 0.8.1 version but there is no instalation redme ... there is no instalation information on the net, even on wiki site there is no information.
Can anyone tell me what is this .zip file for?
And if anyone knows, please tell me how to install (debian sid) the newest version?
Thanks.

Installation instructions:
1. Extract zip
2. run openarena.i386 or openarena.x86_64

If I remember correctly the commands are:
unzip oa081.zip
./openarena-0.8.1/openarena.i386

Well quake3 has a more logical update structure. First came pak0.pk3, then, when they released new patch they made (added) pak1.pk3. And so forth- now its is pak8.pk3. Maybe he was referring to that- why download all paks anew?

0.8.1 is not an update on the previous 0.8.0 version. 0.8.1 is the entire program and that is why it's 300MB.

There will be no 0.8.1 patch to just upgrade 0.8.0 due to the major changes between both packages.

I'm not aware of any 0.8.1 Debian packages as of yet, though Google may bring something up. Smiley

Quake3 is different. They have shipped cds in retail.

Progress of OA3 currently occurs behind closed doors alone

I do not provide technical support either.

you can find debs (for ubuntu intrepid, but probably universal) here, just force install them with dpkg.
