Pay for more bandwidth Tongue

or

Through the Setup menu:

setup > system > network

and adjust your data rate to match your connection speed.

You will generally get better results without a router and with a cable.

If it these are not an option you should make sure that you are the only one using the router and that no other wireless devices are close by.

I have tried sitting on a wireless network with 10 ms in ping (local server), that becomes 120-150 ms ping if there was more computers. The I was in an Ad-hoc network with the server didn't help.

A) Play on servers which are closer to where you live
B) Try these values:
/snaps 40
/rate 25000
/cl_maxpackets 100
C) Contact your ISP and tell them to disable error correction on TCP/IP.

See what your ping times are if you are wired to your network.  If you have a cheap access point/router and you live in an area where there are a lot of wireless networks nearby, you could easily be adding 20-50ms to your ping.  Try changing the channel your wireless device is using.  Most default to channel 6, so try using channels 1 or 11.

Thanks all for your help but i think its the server I connect to. the cat-man-du server. A lot of other players say it lags.

Actually dude, I agree with u, the problem seems to be when some players with bad ping join the server.
or it could be cause the server cant support too many players.

I hope Wiz put on the Rainbow CTF server on, so we all can play ther whith new maps Cheesy

see ya on the field  =)

yea I agrea, Ive noticed that there are alot of high ping players in games. Like 200-300 ping sometimes. Is is possible to get the server to kick people with a ping over lets say 150. I know there was some server mods back in the day for Quake 3 that would give the admins the ability to do that.

Dude, I dont like the idea.
First of all 'cause my ping is always higher than 200 and
second.. there r a lot of players with this kind of ping.

I guess the problem is the server support, not the players' ping, and its not very kind just kicking or "baning" players with a high ping.
Like I said, lets wait 4 the Rainbow CTF server to play on it, Im sure we wont have this kind of probs there.
Am I correct Wiz?. =)

It is possible even without a server modification, simply changing/adding the server variables sv_minPing and sv_maxPing would allow/prevent clients only within the range. For instance values like sv_minPing 50 and sv_maxPing 200 would allow clients within that range. Another value which might be of use for server admins are the sv_minRate and sv_maxRate, and they work in the same way. Note: never set minRate to less than 3000, or clients cannot connect as 3000 is a default value.

I finally fixed it. It was the settings I had it for Nintendo DS compatability. I just changed them and it has helped. Also high ping is unavoidable for some people.
