Title: Missionpack menu Post by: fromhell on June 18, 2007, 12:53:01 PM Is this too close to half-life?
Please note that these are my first .menus EVER. EVER EVER. So to learn menu design I had to be heavily inspired by the old menus of another old game (http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/1113/yaymenu10go5.jpg) If I work fast enough then missionpack might even be functional in 0.7.0 but who knows. Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: kit89 on June 18, 2007, 01:09:51 PM They do re-mind me of half-life.
I don't think the colours suit Open Arena's style, unless maybe the background is animated and it runs a demo, previously recorded. Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: SAHChandler on June 18, 2007, 01:12:41 PM Change the colors, and it would look a hell of a lot different
Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: dmn_clown on June 18, 2007, 03:41:06 PM My first impression wasn't half-life, my first impression was that it was clean, made sense, and most importantly doesn't look like iD's menu.
You could always change the font if you are worried about half-life resemblance. Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: fromhell on June 18, 2007, 03:58:31 PM well, Deja Vu and Bitstream Vera are the onyl free fonts i can use :/
Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: dmn_clown on June 18, 2007, 04:51:30 PM what about some of the liberation fonts (https://www.redhat.com/promo/fonts/)?
Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: SAHChandler on June 18, 2007, 05:09:26 PM well, Deja Vu and Bitstream Vera are the onyl free fonts i can use :/ Can't you make your own and release them under the GPL?>.> Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: DeathByGuitar on June 18, 2007, 09:09:41 PM I like the idea thus far, but since the OA logo/icon is blue, then wouldn't white text on a blue background work better? But hell, anything is better than Q3 menus
Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: moHiJ on June 22, 2007, 01:19:09 AM Will this new menu fix the "only 3x4" menu bug?
Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: fromhell on June 22, 2007, 02:03:12 AM yes
Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: Kylratix on July 21, 2007, 10:42:41 AM Maybe a widget border around the map preview box as well?
Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: hyp3rfocus on July 21, 2007, 05:51:36 PM passwoid?
nice work on the menus. did you have to dig into the code and figure it out as you went along or did you find any useful tutorials? Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: w1zrd on July 24, 2007, 10:54:33 AM imo they do remind to much of half-life, and I've barely played the game :)
passwoid rules all day long :) Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: iLeft.bye on July 24, 2007, 01:17:27 PM no one gonna notice unless you add a crowbar
Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: moHiJ on July 25, 2007, 01:49:41 AM You titled this topic Missionpack menu. Does this mean OpenArena will be seperated into two different games like Quake3 was (Q3 and Q3TA)? I think that wouldn't be a good idea.
Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: dmn_clown on July 25, 2007, 11:04:05 AM And why is that?
Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: moHiJ on July 27, 2007, 12:53:53 PM dmn_clown: Why I think it isn't a good idea? Well, now that this is entirely open source stuff splitting it up into a OpenArena and OpenArenaTA seems stupid, since that would only add confusion and annoyance since you have to switch between the two. I'd prefer one single OA.
Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: fromhell on July 27, 2007, 08:30:29 PM Who said anything about it being seperate?
Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: Joshgt2 on July 27, 2007, 08:43:37 PM I like the looks of it. You are the boss so you make it how you like it, lol
Title: Re: Missionpack menu Post by: moHiJ on July 29, 2007, 04:22:22 AM fromhell: Fine then. *happy*
I just wondered, because the topic of this thread is "missionpack menu". |
