nah, some random picture off the Internet from people with similar ideas in regards to camping.. My wallpaper has a rather simplistic look, but yet very inspirational

campers cant camp in some ctf levels ( i think one is cbctf1 ) because the place they camp from ( railgun spawn ) has such a small amount a viewable area as compared to the total area of the level, you can kill them rather easily.

oh god no cbctf1. i think that your thinking of ctf4ish. you can still camp on the rail spawn, as you have a very clear veiw of the side your faceing. in cbctf1, your railgun gets outranged if they are far enough, making it impossible to hit ppl on the far side of the map.
In the long run, camping will only make easy kills for everyone else. unless the camper actualy know what thier doing, and moves around a bit O.o lol but i doubt such things exist.

you want random spawns?
how about simply adding MORE spawns? Agreed. This is the easiest solution. Even for CTF maps this should work.

i think the camping problem stems from weapon location. IMO, Weapons should be located between both groups or a good distance away from the flag. Ammo and health should only be near the flag. Also, i think respawning next to a strong weapon encourages ppl to camp.

That's why maps need to be tested especially for gameplay reasons. Too bad there are not many around here willing to do so.

I would test maps. I know how to make maps, but I never really finish and release anything. My map detailing and texturing are not quite good enough yet. IMO there need to be some TDM specific maps that emphasize entire map control, but no one plays TDM.

Hey rashdawg we should discuss important elements of TDM maps. I'm not sure what is needed for 'map controling'. It's not that you're able to run 'routes' to get all important items just as they respawn, is it?

Team deathmatch is essentially deathmatch only you dont shoot roughly half of the people you see TDM Team Deathmatch is where things start to get a little more tacticle. Here being killed you uust avoid AS much as you must try and kill the opposition. If you get killed the other team get a point, if you kill them your team gets a point. You should try and stay in communication with your team here (/say_team) and it is good to have binds, (e.g. /bind t say_team "stick togeather!"), now when you press t you say that message to your team. Really the best way to win in tdm is to stick togeather, and make sure you alll have weapons and armour before engaing the enemy. If they are disorganised and split up they should all be easy to take down. Also from the options menu you should turn on 'draw team overlay', this will put a box on your screen telling you at all times where you team mates are, what weapon they have out and how much health they have.
So it seems that for a good team deathmatch map, you would have a larger map. There should be a few large rooms with essentials like important weapon pickups and lots of escape routes

random spawning points would make people spawn inside walls/lava Thats not realy true. With some tracing around you can find 'valid' spawn points.

sometimes when people camp the rail on ctf4ish i can't help myself from being a bit naughty. if it's the other team i just kill them. however if it's someone on my team i jump up there, and knock them off the platform with a rocket from behind, most of the times they don't even realize what just happened LOL i do exactly the same,....i so hate campers on that map because i like the map itselfe alot i can play it hours on end. if there is NO camping that is
The rail platform should be redone imo and replace the old ctf4ish map in the new version Because u cant shoot enemy-campers from below when they are on your side of the map anymore, like in Q3 ctf4 (is that on purpose or just look-over? ) In q3ctf4 there is a hole the the platform trough wich u can shoot down or shoot up from base to kill someone on the platform So a railer can stay there almost indefenatly if there is noone to rj-jump of the bouncepad up to rail I also find that the physics are a tiny bit on the high side or is that just me?
I know its possible to play a great match without anyone camping rail. Althought i dont mind unskilled campers (people who just started to play the game,..(it shows) to stay on rail so they can have a little practice), but then again when someone from the other team sees some1 up there they always start camping themselfes without checking the skills of that camper. Dont get me wrong i shoot anyone off the platform if i can
Greatz

Agreed, a way to kill campers from below would be a good point, otherwise you can only minigun the guy for a short time as he shoots you.
Some people also are reluctant to BFG, as it spoils a bit the gameplay ; it's mainly a way for noobs to collect a few frags.

I agree that spawn camping is a sad/bad way to get kills but please see that tactical ambush and sitting on a weapon spawn are a legit tactic for FPS 's and for me to find a good camper kill him and steal his spot wait for him to try and get it back kill him again is fun and a game within its self.

To prevent “long distance camping” (especially on ctf4ish) we decided to disable the railgun and the BFG. The game is a lot more dynamic, if you don’t need to worry about being shot in the back from of of the platforms above the bases and therefore try to get there as fast as possible.

Nothing worse than a back shot when you can't hear the enemy. If it's freezerail it's like walking into a lamp post, you just stop dead still holding in the forward key.. bah

Campers are generally noobs. At least it wasnt OA related since campers are a generic breed of people we all have to live with

That's right, and rancid punx is going to have a really hard time trying to find a similar game that doesn't have campers. There's nothing wrong with the game.
