Title: Errors With Downloaded Q3A Bot Models
Post by: VictorDTarsus on September 14, 2007, 10:45:47 PM
I also had a question about a source for native OA models. Is there a site that has either created new models and/or converted Q3A models to OA format(thats to say if OA has its own unique model format). Some of the models I downloaded for Sonic the hedgehog and Homer Simpson look good and fight well, however some times during play in skirmish games, just stand there after an error called "weapon out of range" appears on the screen. When I see that, I have to find them and kill them when they just stand around doing nothing. Is the error associated with the models original Q3A encoding when it comes to the new weapons in OpenArena? Also the addon bots are dumb as hell and will not use any other weapon other than the default Machine Gun because the error prevents them from picking up weapons. They may pick the weapons up, but the error shows up in the upper left screen and the bot stands there until they either see other players coming up to them or just don't do anything until they are killed.

This is boring me greatly because I like to add custom models that have bot support, however this error is making them way to easy to fight.

The models are ok. There are just two files concerning bots that need to be edited for them to adjust to OA bots' fuzzy logic. Since dmn_clown is the one who did the default bot files, asking him would be wise :P
