Title: Brightskins Post by: loxer on December 20, 2007, 11:43:33 AM is it possible to use brightskinmodels, because my biggest problem is to see the enemy models and its annoying very much sometimes : <
Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: fromhell on December 20, 2007, 12:22:39 PM no (thank god)
Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: loxer on December 24, 2007, 08:19:54 AM but thats not a plus to use this game in tournaments :/
Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: misantropia on February 23, 2008, 10:17:01 AM Bump. Add this, grey skins on a grey background gets old - and annoying - really fast. If you want, I'll supply you with the code.
And congrats on OA, I think it's one of the top 3 projects since iD opened up Q3A. Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: Gerbil on February 23, 2008, 01:47:17 PM Bump. Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: fromhell on February 23, 2008, 11:29:48 PM we have grey skins on grey levels?
Last time I checked our levels had actual lighting so that wouldn't happen. Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: misantropia on February 24, 2008, 05:02:20 AM /r_vertexlight 1; r_picmip 8; vid_restart
And there you go. But even with the default settings, some of the models blend in with the background far too much. Think of the people with bad eye sight and add those bright skins. Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: aantipop on February 24, 2008, 06:12:13 AM old white sarge skin on oasago2f2 is annoying :(
/r_vertexlight 1; r_picmip 8 < -- no thanks its not possible to force this white skin to go away (/cg_forcemodels 1) Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: dmn_clown on February 24, 2008, 10:19:03 AM /r_vertexlight 1; r_picmip 8; vid_restart And there you go. Do it yourself, if bright skins are so necessary it will be a popular community download. Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: misantropia on February 24, 2008, 11:01:40 AM With pleasure. However, Pro Mode style skins need engine support to function properly. As mentioned, I will be happy to provide a patch for that.
Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: fromhell on February 24, 2008, 01:06:20 PM r_vertexlight 1 no wonder you can't tell. You basically crapped all the game's effects and lighting to make things look worse.Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: dmn_clown on February 24, 2008, 05:42:51 PM With pleasure. However, Pro Mode style skins need engine support to function properly. As mentioned, I will be happy to provide a patch for that. It's free software, go for it. Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: w1zrd on February 25, 2008, 04:13:53 AM One of the reasons why CPMA is currently so popular in the Q3 community is that people actually see what they shoot at without cranking up their r_gamma and r_intensity.
Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: pulchr on February 26, 2008, 12:41:45 PM a semi-related thing - i really do hate the model (can't remember the name now) that is white/grey when playing capture the flag. can't see what team he's on >:(
Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: Derity on February 26, 2008, 06:11:54 PM i dont think that oa is supposed to be a tactic shooter so glooming models would be really nice.
Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: misantropia on March 04, 2008, 03:07:21 PM It's free software, go for it. Trying to, but what's up with your svn? It's trickling in with often only mere bytes per second, a few kB/s at best.Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: escapedturkey on March 05, 2008, 12:18:52 AM is it possible to use brightskinmodels, because my biggest problem is to see the enemy models and its annoying very much sometimes : < Create some bright skins and use redirect. Put the brightskins in a mod folder. Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: skankychicken on March 05, 2008, 07:37:28 AM Yes I also support the option for bright models for team games. I never had a problem without the bright models but as many people will clarify, it's just impossible on many maps to play to any kind of potential when people can see you clearly in a light area and miss you after many shots while they may normally be an easy target except you cant see them. Yes I can mess around with intensity and stuff but then the map developers might as well be wasting their time as i would be using settings which are ugly yet suited for game play.
I know it may be arguable in certain games but when you know everyone is playing with clear models and the opposition are the same you know that noone has an unfair advantage unless they are unaware of the options. It's an admin option anyway, so what does "nope, phew" indicate? If server admins have the choice and you find that 90% of them enjoy the game play then if your one of that 10% then you can choose to 0 it. Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: escapedturkey on March 06, 2008, 06:51:39 AM ExcessivePlus, the mod I'm using for OA, supports bright skins and changing enemy colors. It just needs a version of the 'xp' models for OA -- so the colors can be added. Anyone interested?
Don't let the name "ExcessivePlus" mislead you. I'm running the mod in baseq3 (default gameplay mode). You can create your own modes. It's perfect for CTF as well: http://turkey.escapedturkey.net/openarena/excessiveplus/docs/ Click on client and server. My server, if you want to check it out: ~ and /connect 72.5.249.2 Be sure to turn on dowloading: ~ and /cl_allowdownload 1 Not trying to advertise my server, just showing you that E+ is a great mod for OA. It even has unlagged which is great because you have people from all over the countries, even different countries join, and most people are on equal footing. We just need to do a few things to make it be fully compatible (i.e. add enemy models for OA) :) Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: aantipop on March 06, 2008, 04:19:22 PM only instant hit weapons are unlagged afaik.
i like e+, wish it was more popular on openarena Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: Bu3ll3r on November 27, 2008, 07:33:57 AM [bump]
pro skins ftw ! Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: fromhell on November 28, 2008, 10:31:28 AM [bump] i disagreedrugs ftw ! Title: Re: Brightskins Post by: dash9 on November 29, 2008, 10:39:35 PM [bump] It's as easy as convincing the server administrator to add the bright skins pk3 to the server: http://URL TRUNCATION IS BANNED HERE, THIS IS NOT TWITTER!.com/6hx6jepro skins ftw ! You can also try convincing them to add a pk3 with a shorter hit sound, ^^ see http://openarena.ws/board/index.php?topic=2370.msg18937#msg18937 |
