    i was playing OA with bots and i did something stupid i put /set_dedicated 2 in da console and it just quited and now itry back into it and it says this.....

Try running Openarena with the +set_dedicated "1" parameter from the Run... dialog.

I.E.
C:\Program Files\openarena\openarena.exe +set_dedicated "1"

That should reset the value of 2.

thx a lot josh...but where can u find this?
im asking this cause i went into properties and it said it but  i couldnt edit it
but i didnt no if that was right

I was referring to starting OpenArena from the command line. I am assuming your are running a Windows machine, and here are the steps:

  • Open the Run... dialog by pressing Windows Key + R.
  • Click the Browse... button.
  • Locate your OpenArena executable.
        i.e. "C:\Program Files\OpenArena\openarena.exe"
  • Click Open.
  • Modify the Run command to include the paramter set_dedicated "1"
        i.e. C:\Program Files\OpenArena\openarena +set_dedicated "1"
  • Click Ok in the Run dialog.

The Linux equivalent should look something like: ./ioquake3 +set_dedicated "1"

because you need to add .exe

You don't need the .exe. Though your install directory is probably different.

Try:
C:\Program Files\openarena-0.7.0\openarena +set_dedicated "1"
C:\openarena-0.7.0\openarena +set_dedicated "1"

Or wherever you extracted it to.

How about just downloading OA again and save the program on your desktop. Don't give up so easily.

The easiest solution is to reinstall the Linux way:

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\OpenArena\baseoa (some of the folders are hidden)

Delete "q3config.cfg"

Done.

Seconded. Just delete q3config.cfg and any misconfigurations you might have applied will be gone.

lol I would have suggested that but I forgot where that file was in XP (no! I actually got used to Vista! lol) anyways yes u delete this file and remove your old OA installation and you reinstall OA and run it again
