Title: Getting voices Post by: fromhell on June 05, 2008, 09:15:49 PM So far my thread here (http://voiceactingalliance.com/board/showthread.php?t=32359), albeit well explained, has gotten absolutely nothing.
Anyone know of any other place for free voice acting? Title: Re: Getting voices Post by: [TASF]Overkill on June 06, 2008, 08:22:49 AM When my a/c starts working again, perhaps I'll give a go at some of these.
In the meantime, I'm essentially living on Angelyss' planet. Which, by the way, is the most hilarious justification for a character's nudity that I've seen in a while. :-) Oh, wait, all of these sounds are for females, right? Perhaps I'll have to bring in some outside help. Title: Re: Getting voices Post by: qubodup on June 06, 2008, 10:34:00 AM http://librivox.org/forum/
http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/forum/viewforum.php?f=8 - it's freesound, but few over there are strict. perhaps someone would be ok with gpl/dual-licensing. Title: Re: Getting voices Post by: GrosBedo on June 08, 2008, 05:52:33 PM Why don't you do it yourself or with the help of a friend of yours, and modify the voice with Audacity and some VST plugins (you may modify the sound in a way it still seems natural but your voice will be unrecognizable).
Title: Re: Getting voices Post by: fromhell on June 08, 2008, 11:10:52 PM i'm not touching filters.
i'll try librivox, if that fails then i'll just give up 0.8.0 Title: Re: Getting voices Post by: kr3am on June 09, 2008, 02:07:45 AM Sorry if i have misunderstood this thread.
What voices do you want, if it is female voices i can most likely get you whatever you need. Never give up, ever! Title: Re: Getting voices Post by: kr3am on June 09, 2008, 02:14:22 AM Ok i just realized that the word (here) is a link, it looks the same as the rest of the text on my monitor.
i will see what i can do during my term break. Title: Re: Getting voices Post by: fromhell on June 14, 2008, 10:56:24 AM Okay
but the problem with doing what you said they aren't really in consent as they don't know what the license is I prefer contributors that contribute themselves I have done a thread at librivox (http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=249401), let's see how that goes Title: Re: Getting voices Post by: qubodup on June 14, 2008, 11:54:32 AM Quote Hi This text isn't well done.Someone pointed me toward this place because i'm having no luck there. OpenArena 0.8.0 is going to be finalized around August 1 08 and the project requires voices for the missionpack project which has a voice feature. I haven't set the radio lines in stone yet but pain/death sounds for some of the redundant sounding characters would be needed since i'm recycling and repitching old 2006 takes. This is Free Software so contributions must be licensed under the GNU GPL v2. 1. introduction: what is OpenArena? (openarena is an free/open source software first person shooter game) 2. come to the point: what do we want? (we want female voices for generic ouch and death sounds but also text readings for a mission pack) 3. sugarcoating: why should you care? (we're a free software project and would like to incorporate some free content (public domain/gpl) 4. screens. because many people are visualophiles. I mean whatever. But it seems you don't really care. Title: Re: Getting voices Post by: fromhell on June 14, 2008, 10:12:03 PM oh i care, infact i linked to a superinfoloaded post in the thread, which is referenced to. I don't have much time these days
and I don't care? Title: Re: Getting voices Post by: qubodup on June 15, 2008, 09:34:24 AM Ouch. The link color is too close to the text color on this display. (FF is configured to permit site-side link colors/decorations.)
Sorry for being a bitch. Title: Re: Getting voices Post by: qubodup on June 19, 2008, 07:12:45 PM fromhell: I found some female gamer forums (well, at least I told google to find girl/woman/female gamer forums.) Would you like to ask there for voice acting help? or would you like me to post there?

Title: Re: Getting voices Post by: Cacatoes on June 23, 2008, 04:15:06 AM @qubodup,
I suppose when fromhell says "neither", it means she doesn't want to take the responsibility to follow these auditions that would give extra work to her. However, if you think your idea is good (I'd say it's always worth to try) this shouldn't prevent you from doing it by yourself and by the rest of the community around OA. The thing is : don't complain if the result isn't integrated to the official OA build, but you can let the community judge if it is worth, and eventually release under GPL some .pk3 with unapproved content, which could contain the voices you produced, and eventually other GPL-compatible ressources that were refused. |
