Title: Linux gamers: We need your help! Post by: pulchr on June 09, 2008, 01:09:57 AM this might be something? http://www.linux.com/feature/137522
Quote We've written about games for Linux many times over the years. Now we want to do something different. We hope to sponsor a Linux game tournament, but we need your input before we start nailing down the details. Rather than make an ill-informed, arbitrary decision on what game to use in the tournament, we want to get your opinions. We think the ideal game for this tournament would be one that: * Easily lends itself to multiple rounds of tournament-bracket play * Allows rounds to be completed in a half hour or less * Provides the ability to limit play to Linux platforms only; even if there's a version for another operating system, we don't want people using it for this tournament * Most importantly, is a fun, kick-ass game to play! If you're a Linux gamer who can help us with advice, please add a comment below. In addition to selecting the game, we would also appreciate your thoughts and suggestions on other aspects of the tournament: registration, scheduling, scoring, moderation, and so forth. You might also suggest where and when we hold the event. We want this to be the best Linux game tournament possible, and we can't accomplish that without your help. Pure server + only native linux client = linux only... but it would be retarded :[ Title: Re: Linux gamers: We need your help! I can't name any linux-only FPS games that don't suck for tourneys :( Title: Re: Linux gamers: We need your help! Post by: CFQ on June 11, 2008, 06:58:04 AM ----

Title: Re: Linux gamers: We need your help! Post by: kr3am on June 11, 2008, 08:55:30 AM A win-OA-only tournament would be kind of weird, as games are cross platform anyway so having a this or that OS only tournament would be, well, weird. Maybe they could be informed of this and perhaps re-phrase or drop the silly clause, because if they want to limit gameplay to Linux then all they have to do is verify the OS of each players rig.
an if they want an extremely fast paced kickass game then OA is just the ticket. i used the word extremely to describe the pace because i hurt my left hand big time playing OA at a lan party recently. :( mmm what about a win v lin tournament. Windows would possibly win by sheer numbers but who knows :P Title: Re: [OT]Re: Linux gamers: We need your help! Post by: fromhell on June 12, 2008, 12:06:13 AM EDIT : why I don't have Delete option anymore ? People have abused it to dramatically self-destruct their accounts like they've never posted here. That feature, and the post deletion feature is disabled. |
