Title: general understanding and tweaking Post by: lparcshinoda on July 17, 2008, 06:14:55 AM Hi All, just some random question i got playing OA and setting up a server
** I use Windows XP ** 1) is there a way to avoid the super-blue-brightness effect that starts with the game ? 2) How can I run the openarena.exe in background (since I'm serving a game) 3) is there a way to terminate (an HOTKEY for example) the openarena.exe I'm using as a server (without using taskman) ? 4) i often receive yellow warning messages of missing sounds or others ... could those messages be avoided (just hiding em) ?? thanks guys, I'm still a q3 / OA noob so just keep doin stupid questions :D Title: Re: general understanding and tweaking Post by: Cacatoes on July 17, 2008, 08:58:03 AM I can't answer you correctly because I'm not sure of everything but meanwhile :
1) That's strange coz I don't see anymore this screen ... 2) use oa_ded.[???].exe :) 3) don't worry to shut it down not properly, you could try to build some kind of shortcut with a kill command if you really care. I'm not sure there is a simple and proper way to close it. (that could be a suggestion of feature in next versions, though) 4) I'm not sure you can hide these messages, why do you mind reading logs ? :] Do they visually bother you while playing ? (I don't have these kind of messages appearing ...). The goal of OA development is to reduce them, so the other solution is to be patient ;) Title: Re: general understanding and tweaking Post by: lparcshinoda on July 17, 2008, 09:01:14 AM thanks, the oa_dedicated solved points 2 and 3
the 4th point .. well I'll be patient but after having known that some bug exist I don't want to see them always !! Title: Re: general understanding and tweaking Post by: Cacatoes on July 17, 2008, 09:26:40 AM It's only because of a map which tries to load some music OA doesn't have, this isn't like it was affecting gameplay ...
Just replace the ressource with one you like ;) Where do these error appear ? You know, it's just common to log everything, it helps debugging and sometimes helps the player to point out a problem, so if you don't have any problem except these message appearing, that should be fine ... Title: Re: general understanding and tweaking Post by: lparcshinoda on July 18, 2008, 05:58:21 AM I'm using custom maps and models (and bots) so often I receive messages that I don't need to read in yellow and read form, so I wanted to clean the on-game log, that's all ;)
Title: Re: general understanding and tweaking Post by: lparcshinoda on July 19, 2008, 06:05:24 AM so, now way to get the warning messages not to appear in-game but only in the console ?
