Its a content project for heavens sake. That whole pulse check thing was rubbish. I think the time release between openarena 0.7.6 and 0.7.7 where about right, and I loved both releases. The only think that warrens the 0.8 tag is the VOIP from ioquake3(a little bit of wee comes out every time I say that) Seriously I'm thinking 3 months not 13 months

It could be arranged to have as many intermediate versions as we need to accomplish that. But for most project, minor and major version numbers have some meaning, and it may help to have that too with OA (if we don't already have). Moreover, we just should release a version as soon as we feel one has to be done, without worrying about the date, and following these incremental rules. Some projects give a name to their versions to make it fancy. Otherwise the version number doesn't fulfil its goal. What about OpenArena 8.8.8, then OA 999.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0 ? :) Title: Re: Future release dates Post by: damocles on August 06, 2008, 09:08:13 AM On the other hand, there are other numbers in between 0.8.0 and 0.9.0... it's not like you look at 0.7.0 and 0.8.0, and suddenly talk about 0.7.1, 0.7.6, and 0.7.7 like they never happened. :)
You can even have more than one digit if you wanted to, but then you'd get into discussions about whether 2.0.5 or 2.0.11 is the newer version (or, heaven forbid, a padded zero, like 2.0.07). I hope this has been thought through. especially if you have to patch more than one version revision.

0.7.0-0.7.1 was automatically installed to whoever had Autodownload enabled and patches of that type can be installed in any order |
