Title: Open Arena won't work with Ubuntu? Post by: jras20 on August 06, 2008, 10:22:46 AM When I try to start Open Arena it loads a blank screen then it goes back to my Ubuntu desktop like nothing happened.
What can I do to fix this? Thanks Title: Re: Open Arena won't work with Ubuntu? Post by: CFQ on August 06, 2008, 10:29:29 AM ----
Title: Re: Open Arena won't work with Ubuntu? Post by: jras20 on August 06, 2008, 02:01:53 PM Thanks, I can't tell what error it gives me, it doesn't give me any. It just shows a blank screen for a second then goes back to the Ubuntu desktop.
I use Ubuntu 8.04.1 Title: Re: Open Arena won't work with Ubuntu? Post by: Sauer2 on August 06, 2008, 02:06:24 PM You have to start it from your terminal / konsole / whatever command line based console and you have to read the text output after the crash.
BTW: Better take it from this page, if you use Ubuntu 8.04. http://www.getdeb.net/app/OpenArena Title: Re: Open Arena won't work with Ubuntu? Post by: kr3am on August 06, 2008, 07:12:33 PM it seems to me like you haven't enabled the restricted drivers.
Go to System=>Administration=>Hardware Drivers, then check the box underneath Enabled. This is the most likely cause of your particular error. Title: Re: Open Arena won't work with Ubuntu? Here OA 0.8 at Ubuntu 8.04.1 works good. Well only in 800×600 windowed mode with low details and only with 30 fps, but this is, because my hardware sucks at all :) |
