Title: What's with bots? Post by: Pyrarrows on August 06, 2008, 10:13:41 PM I've got a quick question, do the bots get harder the more you use them? as in do they "learn"? I've just noticed that the bots on my machine have been getting harder all the time, Especailly in CTF Mode. If they do get harder, this must be a way to try to move players to the higher skill levels, as at times level 2 bots are easier than level 1 bots.

Post by: onykage on August 12, 2008, 07:50:52 AM bot difficulty levels are determinded by the engine when the aas is created from a map. If the maps creater doesnt add in the correct bot go/nogo areas, then the bots will seem to have a random/variable skill level outside of their aim. Like when bots always seem to congregate in certain areas. Now dont get me wrong, using the "nogo" brush and calculating bot profiles can be extremely tricky. Even on some of the most popular of the original q3a maps, Id couldnt event get the bots to NOT congregate in specific areas.
Basically, the more common the bots patern is, the more common they will be in certain places at certain times, which overall makes them easier to predict and kill. I personally play the nightmare bots, and have found them to not be much different from the lower skilled bots. Same paterns with higher accuracy. Title: Re: What's with bots? Sometimes i think, the bots using aimbots ... er-... well ... i hope you understand what i want to say ;) The bots always kill me with around 5 to 10 shots while i pump 50% of my ammo into them. Even in “Hurt me Plenty” mode. |
