Title: Good 1v1 maps?
Post by: riwa on April 01, 2009, 04:26:32 PM
I've been playing OA, and mostly 1v1, for like a week now but I barely know the names of any good maps. I was thinking that maybe someone could write a couple of names that I can add to my list :).

The maps I've played so far are:
hub3tourney (By far my favourite map!)
ztn3tourney  (Also one of my favourites)
zl4tourney (Good map)
cpm1a (Good map)
lun3dm4 (Good map)
oa_dm4 (Good but  too small)
aggressor (WAY TOO SMALL!!)

So maps similar to hub3 or ztn would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, of the maps you listed that don't come with OA, most are CPMA maps.

You could go to http://www.promode.org/ and download their CPMA map collection.
Lots of nice ones in there, including some of the ones you already have.  The maps
in that collection have the virtue of having gone through a lot of play-testing
for their intended game type.  They'll have a 'feel' like the ones you already have
expressed a preference for.  Most CPMA maps play fine under vanilla OA,
but others will be more suited for CPMA's 'juiced-up' game physics.

http://lvl-world.com/ also has some map packs that might interest you.  Look for
"Cream Off the Top" and "The Top Peg".  There will be some overlap with the CPMA
map pack.

Get the above and you'll have three 'best of' sets of tourney/dm maps.  They should
keep you busy for a while. :-)

Thanks a lot!. I check them right away. Can't wait to get my hands on more 1v1 maps :).

Thanks again!

THE most hardcore map collection you'll ever see:

http://q3a.ath.cx/

...stumbled across it accidentally...

the site is crazy... with 8000+ maps, it parses the insides of uploaded map files, and actually renders them to generate the top view and others. the level of detail about each map is also astonishing.
