Title: Name maker Post by: Interpol on September 22, 2009, 06:52:11 AM Hi :) Some players online use special symbols and graphics in their nicks. I know they use a text editor to do it, but I cannot find it :( If possible, I'd like some help to find that program (I use Vista) and also how to proceed after installing it. Thanks :D Title: Re: Name maker Post by: Cacatoes on September 22, 2009, 07:18:44 AM Quake 3 name changer
http://www.freewarefiles.com/Quake-Name-Changer-V_program_1417.html Even works inside Wine :D We could make a few simple scripts which play with characters' code Title: Re: Name maker Post by: Interpol on September 22, 2009, 11:40:05 AM Yes, that was it! Thanks a lot Cocatoes :D However, I seem to have 2 problems :( : - when I install the Q3name maker, it doesn't locate Q3 (game) in computer. In fact I don't have it installed. - anyway, name maker window appears, but I cannot save the new name. Title: Re: Name maker Post by: Cacatoes on September 22, 2009, 01:02:49 PM Does it ask where Q3 is installed ?
You may temporarily rename your baseoa dir into baseq3. You should make a backup of your .cfg before. You could also rename your "openarena" dir to "quake3" but I doubt it's necessary. Edit: Oh, I think the way I used it was : opening my .cfg file with some text editor, and copy-paste the special nickname inside it (you have to find the line which sets your name). So, nothing to do with renaming directories. Title: Re: Name maker Post by: sittingduck on September 23, 2009, 01:29:36 PM create an autoexec.cfg inside baseoa, and put all your custom settings in it.... they wont ever get lost or overwritten that way!
