Title: Shoutbox anybody? Post by: SharpestTool on November 18, 2009, 08:49:10 PM Well as I was opening up my copy of source code to do some editing...I realized I had a couple of one liners to let everybody know I actually like contributing to the project...
So I thought of a post...noooo...too much effort... Wait...didnt OA have an irc channel? went to wiki...deadddddddd So does anybody know if theres a shoutbox plug-in or whatever for SMF? Next question...would it be possible to get whatever plug-ins installed on the forums? I know if they can be a drain on bandwidth and hosting isnt cheap so its just a suggestion... PS: The one-liners would have had something to do with "HOLY @#$@#$ how many ioq3.sln files does a Windows dev have to have for this freaking project!!! lol" I got like 4 in my Visual Studio startup screen (1 for ioq3 proper, 1 for the OA engine, 1 for OAX, and 1 from an old version of Xreal) PPS: I like this project a whole lot...so much so that when the RTCW & ET flavors of idTech 3 are gpl'd with idTech 4 next year, I'm gonna be going open-source (code-wise) with my RTCW I've been working on. Title: Re: Shoutbox anybody? Post by: Neon_Knight on November 18, 2009, 09:09:26 PM The channel for OA is #openarena in irc.anynet.org, according to fromhell. There's also one channel of the same name on irc.freenode.net, and another idem on irc.quakenet.org.
There're many shoutboxes on the SMF site. Those are actually compatible with SMF 1.1.10, which is the version this forum has: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1319 http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1295 Title: Re: Shoutbox anybody? That sounds like the twitter fever got you :). Well, a twitter account would be a better idea than an SMF shoutbox. Like when the webpage goes offline so do the shouts too, but the twitter channel could continue to operate. I saw some solutions on websites where they display any tweets which have #openarena in their message. And of course one line messages from fromhell would be easier to follow too, there's a discontinued developer blog on moddb and on livejournal too. |
