I wanted to get an idea what gametype people like to play mostly. There are several people on the forums that are actively on but I have never seen in-game. I figured I start up this topic.

You can find me playing on gametype: Capture the Flag. I think many of the top players are on these type of servers. If you ever want to learn how to be play better and watch highly skill players, this is where you wanna be.

You can find me in any of these spots:

Super,CTF
Insta+rj
OANAGE or FF Femme Fatale
[z] Normal CTF Server

unfortunately there are no good tdm maps included in openarena and never any players on the rare tdm servers :(

i only play standard capture the flag with all weapons or all rockets.

And usualy it is fun to play with or against you! ;)

I like also CTF  (Standard )  sometimes and can be seen on the Normal Z server ever once and awhile I have tried to find other servers with people on them but there usually are none but to spike my high ping I can do pretty good. However I wish that some of the other CTF maps would be used besides the osbase because they become hell at times when the whole enemy team is camping. I mostly play FFA tho because it seems like great fun to me and I get better ping on FFA servers oh and it is easier to kill campers on them plus I also like going on a quad ramapage.

I prefer FFA because I love the chaos. I like the other modes too, but tend to stay away from the team game types when my skill is rusty (like right now).

Other: DDom/Harvester. Noone cares about them, anyway.

Other: Freeze Tag (simply called TAG in Excessive Plus).  Closely followed by 3 types of CTF:
CTF,
1 Flag CTF,and
Return the Flag.

ctf is what I usually play, it's pretty awesome ^_^

tournament is really fun, I just wish I was better at it :P

I like Elimination and TDM.

insta DM, insta CTF and CTF is my top-3 in order :)

Free For All. Occasionally I play Harvester or Domination.

I like CTF, FFA or TDM either regular or insta(with or without a RL). Though I don't mind playing other gametypes as long as I'm playing.

I never really gave it much thought. I usually play on servers where there are more people, which is usually CTF servers (it's a kind of magic circle). If I had to pick one I'd say CTF as I like team oriented modes, but I'm fine playing TDM or FFA.

CTF, but I'd like to try others team based (TDM, and that mode where you destroy stuff :p).

I was thinking it would be nice if a reasonable playerbase could decide to meet at some regular date, to play some rarely played game modes. That's where clans are usually useful. Once there are other people others would join generally.
That server I made for beginners isn't so successful, so maybe I could set it up for something else.
I always feel OA lacks players to play comfortably, and this time it's a vicious circle.

Don't give up yet. Try a few things to promote it. Perhaps change the name of the server and make it stand out. I always keep an eye on it when I see the server. Sometimes, I hop on and practice moves for a few minutes. It just needs a small playerbase to go there frequently.

Btw, How many bots do you have set in there? If its low, that could be one reason. New players may not have it set to show only humans. It may be on default settings where your server shows 2/10 in your server counting the bots you have set.

I play FFA mostly, because it requires the least commitment.

My favourite by far is Tournament (1vs1), because it is the pinnacle of online FPS play. It has everything. I'm not terribly good at it due to lack of practice. And you need to think too much, FFA is brainless :P

FFA. I daren't go on CTF or any other game until I'm able to hit things accurately.  :(

Hmm, I prefer CTF usually on EVIL just because it's always fast paced, I do like tournaments as well but on the bigger maps that aren't inside :/, and preferably rockets :)

Wow, a surprising  amount of  CTF votes...

I voted for DM.  DM is  all I  play. I  am  not  a  team  player, though I will play a TDM  game if  it's convienent. That's fun  for an hour  or  two  a day absolutely.  :)

I'm fond of CTF, but mainly play LAN games with friends.

CTF all the way, but Double Domination has potential to become a major gamemode in OA if there is no bug.
