Title: instagib mode background noise ? Post by: hada on April 11, 2013, 03:29:59 PM i deleted every sound file i can find in pak files but i can't find where the hell is this bass driven noise comes from... anyone knows ?? it comes when you make instagib mode active and doesn't go away, making footsteps harder to be heard (which is very bad for me!). i also like to play with corkscrew mod and this mode only have instagib active and that way also have that annoying background noise so i cannot workaround (close instagib and allow only railgun for example) the problem... i don't use any bass enhancements but this noise still driving me crazy, am i the only one ??

but something weird there?! at my first attempt, i deleted all the directories named "world", of course that didn't solved the problem but at my second attempt i deleted whole sound directories and game gave an error message that wants silence.wav file back, and for that i copied the file back to pak file and game started normally. but the noise was still there (even it's file wasn't!) that caused me to forget trying to delete files and post here instead. maybe game summoned .wav files back from somewhere when it cannot find the directory contains it ? umm whatever... problem solved for me filename: rg_hum.wav anyone got sick from that remove it from pak0.pak then you'll be cured Title: Re: instagib mode background noise ? I would suggest, instead, to try creating a file like z_norailhum.pk3, and place a 0 bytes long rg_hum.wav (in the right path) inside it. I haven't tried this, but I think that should allow you do to not hear the hum sound while playing locally, and still allowing you to play on internet servers (hearing the sound in that case). Instead creating a 0 bytes long file (that I fear may generate some kind of warning in console), I suppose that also a copy of silence.wav renamed to rg_hum.wav could fit. |
