This structure realizes CCs long-held objective of ensuring that there are no legal barriers to people being able to remix creativity in the way that flexible licenses are intended to enable" It's not yet stated whether the GPL would be one of those CC compatible licenses or not.. however, there are high chances for this to happen, as I'm sure that it was one of the objetives in making CC 3.0 What do you think about it? found the legal text of the Generic license http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/legalcode (Not linked on their license page, had to type it manually) and there are no licenses listed as compatible. Quote You may not impose any effective technological measures on the Work that restrict the ability of a recipient of the Work from You to exercise the rights granted to that recipient under the terms of the License. That is incompatible with the GNU GPLv2 which has no such clause (See TiVo's modifications of the Linux kernel). So in answer to your question, probably not. If the CC-by-sa gets such a conversion clause and the GPL is in it. There will be no problem.
The biggest problem weak-copyleft licenses such as the GPL and CC-by-sa is that they are (almost by definition) incompatible with each other (and sometimes even them self).
