Title: linux install
Post by: xlancealotx on November 01, 2007, 03:08:20 PM
1st... Love the extra (if you got a problem)....

Well, our office jams to openarena now with a user starting the server, and we want to push this now to a standalone server for both office and home.  Box is running Fedora, all up to date, and ready to rock.  But how do you install?

I have the 7.0 entire download (200+mb) as well as the patch but not sure if it's just one of the .i386 files, etc.  Looking forward to both getting this running and adding some other cool stuff I am reading about ..

tnx ....

You dont need to install it, just run ioquake3.i386 nad that all, but if it dont run you will need to search in the repositories a  think called libopenal (libopenal0a), and that all.

Thanks, have the dependencies set, only problems is that this box doesn't have X installed!   Is there a way to run the server in the background?  This isn't a box that will be playe'd on, just hosting the games itself.

I am sure there is a config file for the setups and a command line server... no?

Thanks.

dedicated server can be started with :

ioq3ded.i386
or
ioq3ded.x86_64

There's tons of links for help with dedicated servers... Just do the Google...
