Title: GTKRadiant and map editing Post by: Dave on November 28, 2007, 09:47:15 AM Hi all,
I haven't even attempted to edit maps since creating Doom maps way back when. I have downloaded and installed GTKRadiant, and would like to start messing around with editing my current downloaded maps until I learn abit more. My problem, is I'm unsure of how to do it. I beleive I have GTKRadiant setup for Open Arena, but I am unable to open any maps as it is looking for .map or .reg files and all I have are the BSP files. Could someone point me in the right direction to get started? Thanks! Dave Title: Re: GTKRadiant and map editing Post by: Dave on November 28, 2007, 10:20:30 AM Found the maps in the SVN repository.
My issues now is I open the map and it shows nothing. EDIT: The maps files can be found here: http://openarena.ws/svn/source/assets/maps/ (http://openarena.ws/svn/source/assets/maps/) Title: Re: GTKRadiant and map editing Post by: pulchr on November 28, 2007, 10:52:18 AM hello,
any error messages in gtkradiant that might help? edit: if you create a new map, save and reopen it - is it still empty? Title: Re: GTKRadiant and map editing Post by: Dave on November 28, 2007, 01:12:42 PM I have these errors:
Unable to find default tag file C:/Program Files/GtkRadiant 1.5.0/oa.game/shadertags.xml. No tag support. OpenGL window configuration: colour-buffer = 32bpp, depth-buffer = none Loading map from C:/Program Files/openarena-0.7.0/baseoa/maps/aggressor.map Open file C:/Program Files/openarena-0.7.0/baseoa/maps/aggressor.map for read...success 14:9: parse error at 'brushDef': expected '#quake3-primitive' brush 0: parse error entity 0: parse error map load timer: 0.00 second(s) elapsed --- LoadMapFile --- C:/Program Files/openarena-0.7.0/baseoa/maps/aggressor.map 0 primitive 0 entities ---------------------------- The first red error comes after opening GTLRadiant with Open Arena setting. The second one comes after trying to open the Aggressor map. As for trying to create a map and save it, well I'm attempting to figure that out as I write this. No tag support. ignore this message or create a tag file and it will go away and still be a useless feature. Quote 14:9: parse error at 'brushDef': expected '#quake3-primitive' brush 0: parse error entity 0: parse error QuArK saves maps in a slightly different format, a format that radiant 1.5 can't read. You can always use Q3Radiant to convert the map to a readable format, but then you have to deal with textures not aligned and with brushes that have been resized. Or you can suck it up and use the POS QuArK map editor.
