Title: GL extensions and Voodoo drivers
Post by: kanzaki on January 15, 2008, 12:10:10 AM
Another small question.

Does anybody what turning off gl extensions does? Or setting the drivers to voodoo instead of default?

Do any of this options allow rendering to be in done in CPU only (and not in the GPU)?

Turning these options off (no extensions, and setting voodoo drivers) let the game run as per normal, but the values I get from performance logging are really weird (as in high. I'm measuring CPU clock ticks per frame). Just hoping that someone here can verify it.

Thanks.

UPDATE: Okay I was wrong, setting it to voodoo does nothing as it reverts back to default no matter what. But the question regarding the GL extensions still stands.

Makes it slower (disabling optimization extensions), makes it look crappier (disabling feature extensions)

No
The engine will NEVER try to do software rendering

setting it to voodoo does nothing

The Voodoo option is only there for the older 3dfx Voodoo addon boards (voodoo1 and 2)
