Excellent medal

I have been working on some new medals for OA and this one is close to being finished. What do you think?
Looks good, what format have you made it in?

I am making the medals with Inkscape and I have converted it to a tga. I just used a png so I could upload it to Photobucket.

Impressive is where you get an accurate rail shot, right?
How about a crosshair, or target?

What the medals mean:

Excellent - 2 frags within 2 seconds.
Impressive - 2 consecutive railgun hits.
Gauntlet - Frag with gauntlet.
Accuracy - Hit percentage above 50%.
Pefect - Finished round without dying.
Frags - For each 100 frags obtained in single player.

you also have:

assist: "This medal is awarded whenever the player actively participates in a capture being made. Active participation includes carrying the flag part of the way, or close proximity defense (fragging attackers) of the flag carrier close to the time the capture is made."

defend: "This medal is awarded whenever the player either frags a foe who is physically near the flag base or when the player frags a foe anywhere else while he himself is near the flag base."

capture: you capture the flag...

assist: "This medal is awarded whenever the player actively participates in a capture being made. Active participation includes carrying the flag part of the way, or close proximity defense (fragging attackers) of the flag carrier close to the time the capture is made."

You also get an assist when you frag the enemy flag carrier, pick up the flag and score (in one flag ctf).  It's one of the better score increasing bugs.

Your new medals look good.

What about new 'icons' for bot skill levels and weapons as well as powerups? You can see them by setting simpleItems to true.

i agree that the bot skill level could use an upgrade, imo they should also be used as base for the difficulty at which you've completed the levels in single player mode. atm only the nightmare mode has a unique look.

i tried to come up with something to show the difficulty used that was easy to use for four levels and nightmare but didn't manage to come up with anything useful :P

Pulchr: Thanks for completing the list, I always seem to forget the Team Arena medals.

Cosmo: I would also like to do the bot skill levels.

I'll keep working on these and keep you all posted! :)

Too caduceus  (http://images.google.com/images?q=caduceus&hl=en&client=iceweasel-a&rls=org.debian:en-US:unofficial&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=images&ct=title) like.

Hm, maybe not caduceus like but it's not saying "Darn, nobody's railing like you!"
The eye should look more focusing.

Impressive WIP

Trying something more along the lines of Cosmo's suggestion. I'm still not 100% happy with the colors. Thoughts?

I've also supplied a pk3 to test them out. Its attached to the first post.

I recommend making the pupil of the eye more narrow across the vertical plane.

Probably use more darker tones of blue rather than lighter...

how about capture, assist, and defence awards?

Gerbil, those images are definately on my list.

I currently work full time and I am also a full time student. So my OA work is usually when I should be studying or sleeping!

here's an idea for the assist medal. teamwork and cooperation are often shown as cogwheels. so i made this:

any thoughts?

Nice, though I don't know if the 3D effect is suitable.
For teamwork I would think of a couple of guys busting out of one of those big starry-look-at-me-only-half-price-shape things together, but that could probably work too.

Perhaps make the top left cog a darker shade of purple so that the cogs don't blob together where they touch.

@pulchr
I think the cogs are a good graphic, but I think the 3D effect deviates from my style.

Nice. Needs a spine though. Like a general idea to keep them from looking so different one to the other.
I mean they are all medals. All FPS medals.
There should be a common element to tie them together, like the sights, or splatteriness, or else.

Need the following medals if anyone can help:

Thank you. :)

@god.DLL

At first I thought I should tie them together, but I decided to make them different. This way you could tell what a medal was for without have to really look closely at it.

Needs a spine?
