built-in voice support would be incredibly fun, especially in ctf if you can divide the players so you only talk to and hear your own team mates :)

I agree, voice chat was very nice feature in ut2004. Looking forward to see it in OA(i mean stable version)

very interesting, but:

-it doesn't seemed to be well tested, at this time. it may be wise to wait a little before putting it in oa;

-when it will be there it will need a modification of the menu, or it will hardly get noticed by mosts.

i'm surely going to try it as soon as i can ;-)

My current plan is to freeze ioquake around 2008-07-08. This means that IPv6, stereo vision and Voice will make it. That is one month before the release and only bugfixes will be applied after that (Debian style).

-when it will be there it will need a modification of the menu, or it will hardly get noticed by mosts.
So does IPv6. The necessary changes are included ioquake they just need to be applied.

Stereo vision will not be included in the menu as it is a little too special.

I don't really know how I would include it in a menu. It supports three different kind of glasses and one of them might require grayscale instead of color and I cannot test it. I might be able to get a red/blue pair of glasses but it is those that might require grayscale.

I am open to suggestions if someone knows the correct options.

wouldn't a switch (something like the one that changes between resolutions) be ok?

testing would not be easy, agreed.
what we can surely do when the eyeglasses aren't available is to compare the rendered images with others that we know are ok, if the difference is noticeable.

isn't that date a bit early? We don't even have a particle system yet.

I don't think it is too early.

It is only the engine I plan to freeze. The game logic (game, cgame and the user interface) can get new features to the last moment. I don't know much about the particle system you are talking about but I believe you once said it was in cgame. If the ioquake team has not started an engine particle system by 2008-07-08 I don't believe it will be finished in time for 0.8.0

ah i see. but still we didn't defunctionize (i.e. still changable cvars but do absolutely nothing) the vertex light and intensity cvars yet
