I saw some demos online and I was wondering how to change  some settings like crosshaircolors/-health (and more I forgot about).

I hear people talk about shader.pk3 etc

So my question(s) to the better players is/are:
Would you make a demo of you playing so can see what i like to have also???
I simply cant remember what its all called like.

I like to play ctf tdm and ft,...but I like to learn to play tourney-games to get better.
Also I like to play cpm, i tried osp but people are way better them me it seems.
My fav weapens are rail/lg shotgun
I play quake since 2000 and I dont get better and I think its my config/setup/look of the game

I think I need more files but i dont know wich ones exactly, there are so many of them and I feel a disadvantage because I dont have them.

I use picmip 4 so get rid of most crap that affects my visibility like blood and gibs and rocketsmoke.

I also can make a demo of me playing ofcourse. but then what? where do i put it for you to see?
I got seismovision but i read somewhere that its Not compatible with OA (realy? is there no update orsomething from seismovision)

Im not good i searching stuff on the web therefore I ask alot of  questions

Lol what a story. I stop typing now and wait for some help( I can type for hours, but when I type to long I start talking to myselfe :P)

So in other words its called cheating by those who use picmip 0 or1? I think thats just an opinion not a defenate cheat

So tell me then,....when i play against someone who uses  brightskins and I dont ,...does the other players cheat aswell then? I would not complain about that

I dont get it, people get called cheaters for fuck all, sv_cheats=0
so no cheating possible  because all settings other then  sv=cheats 0 are Not cheats but preferences.

In my book Cheating is having an UNFAIR advantage over the other player.

I thought we all love this game because its very tweakable.
How come people moan all the time about settings of other players while they are available to you aswell? I cant get my head around that

Is using /cg_truelightning 1 cheating aswell when, the other player uses /cg_truelightning 0 ?

All the commands are usable by anyone who knows them, so dont tell me picmip4 is "read as cheating" while its only a preference setting.

I know what com_blood etc does. I can do basic tweaking
And if we ever play eachother ill lie about picmip4 saying i got 1 lmfao, so u know

Anyone can use the r_picmip command its a FAIR Command you can set, NOT UNFAIR,  its not like you got to look for that command somewhere on an obscure webpage/

SO how about the other commands I wrote in in my last post, I dont see you react to those? how come?

So I can change all my footsteps and distort them which reducing the volume of ambient sounds, with models that glow like quad well basically change anything I want in base oa folder yet changing r_picmip is cheating?

I would argue that changing anything in config is cheating, since your not playing with the same config as the other person. But I do consider some changes less siginigicant than others

You have no idea what you are talking about.

Picmip only shrinks textures, this will have no impact on frame rate with
any slightly modern 3D card, only the ancient (made in the previous millenium)
3D cards get any benefit from picmipping.

By your definition people with faster computers are cheaters, WTF??

All this talk of cheating has become ridiculous and stupid.
If you use aimbots, wallhacks etc then that is outright cheating.
If you use bright-skin pack? Not sure myself, it can give people
an unfair advantage, but is alright imo if everyone is using it.
However ANY OPTIONS THE GAME LETS YOU CHANGE IS NOT CHEATING.

What u call cheating are mearly gamesettings commands you have a very distorted way of seeing the obvious thruth /sv_cheats 1 on a server is cheating allowed /sv_cheats 0 on a server is No cheats available unless you use an aimbot wich is cheating  everything else u say about cheating is JUST YOU SUBJECTIVE OPPINION!

There are rules in official games/mathes. and thats that
As long as your NOT a Pro-players stop bitchin about what is cheationg and what is not PLEASE.

Therefore any gamesetting that the game ALLOWES you to set is NOT cheat  and therefore is NOT a Concept of cheating. like you say every player has his own concept of cheating is true but they are all wrong.

What is camping to you? subjectivly
Mine is  standing still for more then 3 seconds and shoot within a radius of well,..(like the railplatform on ctf4ish) :D or waiting for more then 5 seconds for a powerup.

We got timers to time powerup dont camp for them ;-)

Some folks would like to run full blast on ¡¡¡4096x3072, floating point color!!!, but that's not always possible (http://openarena.ws/board/index.php?topic=1880.0).

Hey, easy there.  We're all people sitting in front of a computer.

Take a minute to breathe.  Read slowly.  CFQ got it nicely at #11 (http://openarena.ws/board/index.php?topic=1982.msg15288#msg15288) -- just sit and spectate, record demos, even if it's just bots offline -- there are plenty of good players out there; doesn't even have to be OA.

Thats why i stopped chatting along time ago and did not register for forums.
Im some1 who just wants a clear straight forward answer to my questions.
Im not a developer so I dont understand much about Codes.9me nub)

And my experience on servers is that Almost everybody who change theyre config in a non-standard way has knowledge of coding or is a serveradmin.

I want to have acces to those changes to, but when i ask about it i get answers like i do here or dont get an answer @ all or i get made fun of.
And thats frustrating.

But i guess thats just the way it goes.

Many sites have downloads but i dont know how to handle those, where to put them and/or how i activate then in console.

Yes i feel its an unfair advantage to players like myselfe who dont go around in that world of coding/developing/programming.

Almost feels like developers make these games for theyre own amusement.
And they all have oppinions about how the game should be and what features should be tweakable but they forget they have more knowledge of how to tweak then the regular player wich makes the tweaks unfair to begin with.

For example:(to go short)
gamer: Hey what a great game
Tweaker/developer:Nice game But, I cant change my crosshaircolor,....Ill go and make a mod so i can do just that.

And im sure im not the only one in this but, for some reason those people  dont join forums nor stay on forum or dont participate because they are desillusioned?

The commands for ch are posted here :D And it is only supported on some mods. Unfortunately there arent many servers and I got fed up with finding bots so stay away from alot of them. Then a lack of players online at the same time doesn't help
