Title: GPL and MODs (Q3F, BotS, ...)
Post by: Peter Silie on January 31, 2009, 03:43:19 AM
i found the q3f sources @ sourceforge:
http://dasprojekt.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/dasprojekt/trunk/code/source/Q3F/ (http://dasprojekt.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/dasprojekt/trunk/code/source/Q3F/)
the source seems to be part of another projetc. it is based on ioquake3 but the q3f-sources could be integrated into oa (?).
btw. another gpl-mod is bots. source also @ sf:
http://qbots.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/qbots/q3bots/ (http://qbots.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/qbots/q3bots/)
are there any other know gpl-mods for q3/oa?

no, they are q3 SDK derived.
By the way have you ever played Q3F? Do you have any idea how much of a massive undertaking it would have to 'integrate' that?

@leileol
i do not know, that the differnce between the q3 and the oa sdk is so big. sorry for that.
if they were simlilar enough, it should be no problem to integrate the source. of course the media is not gpl and this requires a lot of work. but today there are 2 subprojects for an oa-fortress-implementation and i thought that the info above could help them. why reinventing the wheel three times?

q3f is a q3 modification to make a team fortress avaliable for the q3 engine.
team fortress is a classbased ctf game. very funny to play:

q3f works well as a mod under oa (but no servers...)
