Title: [OAA/TXC] New 1on1 tournament - 22/3 [CANCELLED]
Post by: Neon_Knight on February 22, 2009, 09:38:26 PM
Yes, after the first tourney, we're organizing another one, 1on1 too, with the following settings & rules:

- Version: 0.8.1
- Gametype: Free For All (Deathmatch) 1on1
- Date: 22/3 - 16:00 hs. GMT-2 - The tournament will be all day long.
- Fraglimit: 0
- Timelimit: 10
- Warmup: 30 secs
- Pure Server: On
- Instagib: Off
- All Rockets: Off
- Servers: oaarg.servequak e.com. There'll be more announced on the following days.
- Quad Damage: off
- Regeneration: off
- Invisibility: off
- Battle Suit: off
- Haste: off
- pmove_fixed: 1
- pmove_msec: 8

Rules:

- Players must be registered at OAA or ToxicoPC.
- Waiting time: 5 minutes. Past that time, if one of the two players don't show up, his opponent win the match by forfeit. If both players don't show, they'll be unqualified, and his opponent on the following bracket will advance automatically.
- Player limit: Minimum: 8. Maximum: 32. Less than 8 players, and the tournament won't be done.
- Talking during the match is forbidden, that means the use of the "say" command. Only it will be used for "GL/HF" before the match and "GG" after it. Same for bindings. The objective of this rule is to make players be more concentrated on playong the match than to talk. Also, its crap to see a demo with 10 minutes of chatting. :P
- There should be a referee in the match. He will record the demos. In his/her absence, there won't be any match. Demos will be required to have a record of the match.
- At the end of the match, players should take a screenshot of his/her scoreboard (with screenshotJPEG command) and then they'll be uploading it. Same as above, it serves as a record.
- Before the starting of the tournament, you should check everything is fine. If you disconnect from some cause, referee will stop the match, waiting 5 minutes until the player comeback. Past this time, his/her opponent will win the match.
- Any point outside of these rules will be at organizer's decision.

- Versión: 0.8.1
- Modalidad: Free For All (Deathmatch) 1vs1
- Fecha: 22/3 - 16:00 hs GMT-2 El torneo va a durar todo el día.
- Fraglimit: 0
- Timelimit: 10
- Warmup: 30 segundos
- Pure Server: On
- Instagib: Off
- All Rockets: Off
- Servers: oaarg.servequak e.com. Más adelante se anunciarán los otros.
- Quad Damage: off
- Regeneration: off
- Invisibility: off
- Battle Suit: off
- Haste: off
- pmove_fixed: 1
- pmove_msec: 8

Reglas:

Great. Will the server have bright skins?

Also 'talking if forbidden'; does this include chat binds such as 'bind t n1' etc?

edit: btw your hyperlinks are broken.

Did you have a stanard config enforced.. for example clamping fps to certain values so noone has unfair jump heights etc?

I'd hope pmove_fixed is set server side.

Also I had a look at the maps (hope I'm not the only one that doesn't know them), and noticed one had quad... really? :/

I'm considering to put that in the server. We'll have this week a dedicated server, with some luck, so I'll be able to upload what I want to it.

Not as that level. But the idea is to see playings, not chattings. -.-

edit: btw your hyperlinks are broken.
With the linkage... that happens to me when I try to post the same thing on various forums with different forum programs. -.- I'll be fixing them.

ATM no. We'll have to study more on this.

I'd hope pmove_fixed is set server side.

Quad will be disabled this time.

New settings added:
- Powerups off
- com_maxfps 125

com_maxfps is client side, you want the server side:

sv_fps 125, pmove_fixed 1, pmove_msec 8

sv_fps 125 may be a bit too intensive on the server cpu wise though, so if this is the case a lower compromise can be found.

Ouch. You're using only ONE default OA map. Do we need more 'tourney' combatible maps for OA?

Thanks for those RAZ3R, I'll put them on the server, but before I want to learn some more of these commands.

Maybe a time change will be in the following days. I guess 14:00 GMT-2 is too early to begin. (Most of us end to dinner at that time, maybe the tournament can start 16:00 or 16:30, depending on the quantity of signups...)

All of the following are my IMHOs of some maps from OA:

For 1on1 I guess oa_rpg3dm2 this is the best one. It only needs a Railgun. :P (And maybe a switching of MH and Red Armor) Also it uses water in the same way I wished to use in Hydronex2: to make an interesting item being not too easy to reach.

I've discarded maps which have hazards (lava, pits of death, fog, space, slime) on it. That includes Kaos2, which I guess is a good map but also is very big for 1on1; slimefac which has some danger zones; the space and "space-like" maps like wrackdm17, oa_shine, oa_pvomit, suspended and czest1tourney; my own am_galmevish (I have to admit that the map is on 0.8.1 too lamish :/ I hope to get it better for 0.8.2) and maps with big lava zones/death pits/fog of death zones like ce1m7, dm4ish, fan, oa_shouse, and oa_koth1.
Discarded too q3dm6ish (I didn't put q3dm6ishv3 on the server) for the same reason it doesn't appear on the skirmish menu: ugliness, crampy, and I prefer my own q3dm6ish-v3. :P
The Q1 conversions are very small in some cases and some of them have bad weapon/item placement. (oa_dm5 for example, I'm working on it tho)
Maybe dm6ish could go but I don't know. :/
The 0.8.1 oa_minia (not the new one kit89 has done) has weapons and ammo along with their respective weapons.
I thought on czest1dm, but is too big too for 1on1.
I didn't thought on aggressor, it could have fitted well. I guess I'll review the maplist and see if it can fit on the game.

Other than that I could have guessed that aggressor, oa_minia and dm6ish could go.

I guess OA needs some more "non-risky" 1on1 maps. :/

aggressor is the only baseoa map thet gets played seriousy in 1v1, another popular map is hub3aeroq3... but you shouldn't make the map pool bigger than 4 maps as it becomes impossible to learn and practice these maps if you do (if you wish to revise your selection doing it soon would be wise also).

Well... the idea behind those maps is that there should be one map used per phase (for example, if there are more than, let's say, 24 or 16 players, using a map for phase 1, another one for phase 2, the other for phase 3 and the other two for the latest two phases) That's why I said that the latest two maps will be there if needed.

ATM we have 6 signups, the limit is 32. (A limit which I doubt it can be reached, but we have 3 weeks and that started two days ago, so... who knows...)

WHY?
Btw, i think you should run a server with good connection, its really lame to play there and get those awful spikes, certainly that will increase the number of players.

We'll be getting a 12-slot Ded in these days. But we couldn't do much at that moment. :/

Plus to it, few players get signed-up here. :/ 8, but 3 of them were absent. U_U
