Title: Benchmark-only version?
Post by: fromhell on February 28, 2009, 03:23:38 PM
Hi
i'm thinking of toying around with the idea of a cut-down OA version that only has one map, two models, and a spectator choreographed demo featuring players playing a match, and no audio media, all purely packaged for the purpose of profiling systems.

The menu would be missionpack based and would be rather simple.

Anyone else thinks this is a great idea? What map would be used for the benchmark? (Preferably a well detailed one)

Something like Unreal-Engine 2 Runtime (http://udn.epicgames.com/Two/UnrealEngine2Runtime22262002.html)?

nah, i'm thinking more along the lines of 3D Mark 2001, but with a real-world game situation going on instead of synthetic benchmarking of no actual game.

Doesn't input affect performance as the CPU has the process all keypresses and mouse aim?
they are negligible.
