I put my map in baseoa but, in the menu,  I do not see it. I just can play when I type the command /map name_of_my_map

The map is inside of a pk3? Then it should have a file: scripts/<anyfilename>.arena

This one has the basic info of the map: filename, the long name, and the gametype in which it should appear on the skirmish menu.

If it isn't at this folder, you have 2 choices:

1) Modify the pk3 just to include it. It has the BIGGER con that you can't join to pure servers with this modified version.
2) Create the .arena file mymap.arena (or nameyoulike.arena, the filename doesn't matter, but is recommended that it should be the same as the map filename) and put it into a separate pk3. That way you'll see that the map appears on the menu.

Hi,

yes my map is inside of a .pk3 :

~/openarena/baseoa/mctf.pk3_FILES/scripts/mctf.arena

mctf.arena :

{

map             "mctf "

bots            "Hunter Mynx Major Patriot Razor Sarge"

longname        "Mikie's CTF"

fraglimit       "20"

type            " ctf"

}

but in the menu i can't see my map. i I forgot something ?

i don't know if it matters but you have a extra space in " ctf" under type.

It's ok, i can see my map now. it was because of the extra space in " ctf" i think.

I have another problem : In multiplayer mode, for some servers, I do not have the map. How to recover it please ?

Thanks.

That's because of the modified map, if you replaced the arena file at the original pk3, as I said in my first post. Putting the original pk3 with the unmodified .arena file and a separate pk3 with the modified .arena file can work if the server you're joining is a pure one. BUT you need to re-download the original map. :/

Ok man thanks a lot, it works good ^^

Just one question : sometimes, players do big jump throught the map. How they do it ?

You have to get a 125fps stability. Plus, practice with mods like DeFRaG.
There's a topic (http://openarena.ws/board/index.php?topic=2710.0) in these forums with settings to reach that.

arrff i don't understand everything :( from what i understood, i have to get a 125fps stability with :

seta cg_drawFPS "1"
seta com_maxfps 125
cl_maxpackets 125

Is that right ?

But to use it, how can i do?
Thanks.

Basically, those settings cap the 125 fps, but in order to have even more FPS you have to sacrifice graphics. :/ Try setting all the graphic options to low.
