Title: Realistic mod?
Post by: nerf-optique on May 27, 2009, 10:12:38 AM
Hello
This is just a suggestion, i wonder if it's possible to make a realistic mod with OpenArena.

Exemples:
Change the fire speed, and damage.
The weight of weapons which influences the maner how the player moves, or runs.
Create something like stamina which don't allowed players to run and jump at will (it makes me sick personnaly).
and so on...

I hope to have been rather clear.

Yes. Except for some graphics effects (including light) you can change almost anything, including damage, physics and variable accuracy..

I actually have a small prototype that demonstrates some of it, although just a very early prototype.

You may also have an eye on OpenArena Fortress, which implements a class system. It's simple, but there may be common ideas with what you want.

You pretty much just described Urban Terror, another Quake3-based game.

Yes, but I doubt you'll find any active servers.

There's already something like this, it runs on a standalone version of Quake, ioQuake. It's called Urban Terror (http://wwww.Urbanterror.net).
