I really wish i could commit this to the fsfps svn. the engine doesn't support midi, but it does support mod/xm/it/s3m.... hrm...!!! Title: DAVE XD Post by: Marble of Doom on May 11, 2009, 01:47:46 PM i'm not a fan of the engine but it looks great in Darkplaces

Title: Re: DAVE XD Post by: fromhell on June 11, 2009, 02:03:16 AM ITS IN THE SVN ITS IN THE SVN!!! SVN!!!
http://mancubus.net/svn/hosted/fsfps/xdbase/dxd/ HOW PLAY!!! FIRST GET THESE! YOU'LL NEED EM: - DarkPlaces engine http://icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces/files/?M=A (Scroll down to the bottom for the latest 'darkplacesengine' file.) - FTEQCC http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=116842&package_id=129507 - InfoZip. Yep, i'm using this again. http://openarena.ws/svn/zip.exe STEPS: - Snag a DarkPlaces source or binary for your platform. I recommend anything after April 2009. - Check out the above SVN folder. You don't need XDBase. (which I have not committed yet, you'll only be missing a few ambient sounds) - go to the 'src/qc_sv/' folder and compile the code by running 'fteqcc'. It is not included in the tree (I wonder if I should...? Especially since ubuntu has this in their repositories.). Once you do this, you should see a progs.dat just two folders up. - Place darkplaces binaries in the folder above 'dxd' or 'davexd' or wherever you checked it out to. then start it by running darkplaces -game dxd +map testwat THEN SHOOT BOATS AND LIVE THE BUGGINESS Title: Re: DAVE XD Post by: andrewj on June 11, 2009, 05:55:53 AM ME PLAY! :D
Title: Re: DAVE XD Post by: andrewj on June 14, 2009, 02:48:33 AM More comments:
The explosions look great. Pistol looks good. Couldn't figure out how to see the other weapons. It's funny to start riding a boat, I don't know how to get off. Darkplaces runs like crap on my crappy hardware, no real surprise but it rules me out of contributing anything. Good luck with it, I hope to one day hear that "ooh I like it" and other groovy voice messages in-game. Title: Re: DAVE XD Post by: fromhell on June 14, 2009, 03:40:01 AM I probably should mention something
+button5 is the 'second trigger' +use is the use key. I'm going to have a use key. You'll have to bind these in the console. It shouldn't run like crap. Doesn't here, only when theres so many shadows being casted. I have no idea why the boats are so buggy. I'll need some help in the coding area for that :/ Did just commit a preliminary 'gib quotes' system. Title: Re: DAVE XD Post by: andrewj on June 14, 2009, 10:12:00 PM With Darkplace's standard config, framerate was in single digits
(all those glowing barrels I think). Turning lots of things off and it became playable, though the explosions make it real slow. I will look into the boat code. Coding is something I can do OK.
