Title: Tier Post by: AmDDRed on November 03, 2010, 02:08:17 AM As you remember, in q3 tiers were made that way as it was kind a training of how to use weapons. At least till Klesk. In-game movie voice confirmed that, entering one or another tier, saying, for example with a tough voice "TRAINING!" (tier1, I guess).
Also there was a logic: you start on q3-gothic maps, then going to hi-tech maps, and then space (smth like that). And here my idea: mb, we could bring this kind of logic into OA tier. Just a little bit other. It could be memories about id Software games. Smth like that: Tier one: Wolfenstein style - castle, nazi etc (rememberance of wolfenstain 3d, RtCW, W); Tier two: Doom style - labs, mars, doomer (doom1-2-3); Tier three: Quake 1 - mb, the best q1 maps, ranger; Tier four: Quake 2 - the best q2 maps or that style, stroggs, grunt; Tier five: Quake 3 remakes; Tier six: OA bests. In original Q3 there was tier 0 - with Crash. In our case it could be Commander Kane style - map with light defrag elements. So that it is ) Title: Re: Tier Post by: Udi on November 03, 2010, 02:51:24 AM Sadly all the tribute maps will be removed from the default OA install in the future, and they'll only be available as an extra package.
Title: Re: Tier Post by: Graion Dilach on November 03, 2010, 04:21:25 AM Also, every bot as announced in Q3 singleplayer, and the tiers have no relative connections nor each other nor they wanted to be a trainer map.
Only q3dm0 was a training map, featuring Crash. Title: Re: Tier Post by: AmDDRed on November 03, 2010, 05:39:06 AM Mm..
They all were kind a training maps - with growing difficulty. Started with 1-2 unit on map, ended up with more - and bots from end are more "skilled". At list for me fight with Klesk on nightmere was break point )) Also, the name of the tiers: 1 - training; 2 - skill; 3 - combat 4 - warrior 5 - federate??? 6 - master 7 - elite http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gvn4VHTnmFI ---------- Like - first you train, then you gain a little bit skill, then you're let to real combat; and only then you can be counted as a warrior. ))) Just IMO. Btw why can't remakes be used? Title: Re: Tier Post by: Gig on November 03, 2010, 07:06:27 AM About Q3 tiers, I'm not sure, but maybe he says "1 - Trainee" and "2 - Skilled"...

Btw the proposed idea is already realised one way or another - in Generation mod for q3: http://wireheadstudios.org/ |
