Title: mapping question
Post by: Ryan450 on January 21, 2007, 03:45:51 PM
hey guys,

I've been busy the last couple days mapping out a replacement for q3dm17. I've got the layout all finished with working ramps and jump pads now, the only thing that is missing is the upper platforms. However I'm stuck at making a curved platform similair to q3dm17 to stay as close to it as I can, been messing around with the curve controls but sadly I"ve no idea what I'm doing. Anybody know of a tutorial that explains this clearly?

Mess around with rotate with faces, choose multiple faces with shift + click and rotate to bend the brush the way you want it to be.

Trying that can give me some odd shapes but more or less still like a block. I've tried to create a cylinder and using that to csg-subtract to creat that circular shape in the platform I want but that doesnt work sadly :(. The picture attached shows the platform I'm trying to replicate by hand, defiently want to keep its shape.

A little curve tutorial for you.

* First make a brush and curve->cylinder

* hit Q (QE, resize) and V (vertices), start to form the curve as you like by dragging the points

* When you're done, hit v again (to deselect vertices) and curve->cap selection, choose cylinder.
