Title: Make the unlagged and the non-unlagged LG alt-fire modes in OA3

The idea is simple. Instead of "unlag LG" being a server variable, implement *both* as an alt-fire mode by virtue of adding two identically-looking weapons that use the same ammo when player picks up LG. One may have the prongs recolored red to indicate alt-mode.

Red: shoots unlagged yellow lighting, DPS nerfed is down to 120.
Blue: shoots classic lagged blue lighting at baseline DPS of 160. The lighting stops at contact with water inflicting splash damage in a roughly the same radius as a rocket blast.

I fear that altering weapons behavior in that way (adding a secondary fire type) would fall under NOTTODO, ((DO NOT LINK) h t t p s : / / openarena . wikia . com/wiki/NOTTODO) and may be included in baseoa only if disabled by default..

As I pointed in another thread, this point is *already* controversial because game mechanic is *already* changed. xD
For any other weapon I'd agree with you completely.
For LG... It's a good way to see which one is better, at least.  :shifty:
It could be implemented for the "early access" version (enabled by default) to gather user feedback and gauge reactions. Then made disabled by default in the final release and user reaction monitored. :giggity:

If something has been managed in a less-than-optimal way in oa 0.x, I would suggest to discuss about it in apposite threads, to see if it is possible to make it better in oa3... not to make other less-than-optimal things...

About "early access", the most similar things we have are oax/nightly builds... but the feedback is veeery little, I don't think that a proper "gather multiple user feeback and reactions about feature x" session would work very well with the current state of the community (unfortunately)... :-(

... and something which "bypasses" server and client "delag" settings would have been unintuitive...

Also, none of the other weapons has got a secondary mode.

Maybe an idea for some MOD maker...
