Title: Missionpack menu
Post by: fromhell on June 18, 2007, 12:53:01 PM
Is this too close to half-life?

Please note that these are my first .menus EVER. EVER EVER. So to learn menu design I had to be heavily inspired by the old menus of another old game
(http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/1113/yaymenu10go5.jpg)

If I work fast enough then missionpack might even be functional in 0.7.0 but who knows.

They do re-mind me of half-life.

I don't think the colours suit Open Arena's style, unless maybe the background is animated and it runs a demo, previously recorded.

Change the colors, and it would look a hell of a lot different

My first impression wasn't half-life, my first impression was that it was clean, made sense, and most importantly doesn't look like iD's menu.

You could always change the font if you are worried about half-life resemblance.

Can't you make your own and release them under the GPL?

I like the idea thus far, but since the OA logo/icon is blue, then wouldn't white text on a blue background work better? But hell, anything is better than Q3 menus

Will this new menu fix the "only 3x4" menu bug?

Maybe a widget border around the map preview box as well?

passwoid?

nice work on the menus. did you have to dig into the code and figure it out as you went along or did you find any useful tutorials?

imo they do remind to much of half-life, and I've barely played the game :)
passwoid rules all day long :)

You titled this topic Missionpack menu. Does this mean OpenArena will be seperated into two different games like Quake3 was (Q3 and Q3TA)? I think that wouldn't be a good idea.

And why is that?

dmn_clown: Why I think it isn't a good idea? Well, now that this is entirely open source stuff splitting it up into a OpenArena and OpenArenaTA seems stupid, since that would only add confusion and annoyance since you have to switch between the two. I'd prefer one single OA.

Who said anything about it being seperate?

I like the looks of it. You are the boss so you make it how you like it, lol
