Title: Lower Ping Post by: TheMechanicalHand on August 06, 2007, 08:00:52 PM when i connect to this certain servers i was seem to get high ping: cat-mad-du,Beer+Garden,Ruds Rails and Old farts Arena (Excessiveplus) i was wonderin can i get lower ping on a server by typing in commands on the console

I cannot get a good ping on the servers outside Europe. The Intercontinental lines are generally not well suited for gaming. The /rate and /cl_maxpackets are both dependent on your current connection. Using the /snaps will provide you with a smoother experience if the server allows that setting to be changed, a key value for this is /snaps 40 (the amount of that the server sends out). When it comes to that /rate and /cl_maxpackets, use the /cg_lagometer 1 to determine what the best configuration for you is, for more information about how to read it, check this article (http://gameadmins.com/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=5).
