I was debating on putting up a team fortress server.

Would any of you guys be interested in that?  I myself loved that mod.  and it (will be) GPL.

only problem is, that mod requires at least 8 people to even play a game.  So i'd pretty much have to have a server half full all the time.

The mod will have to be ported over to OA to remove all the none GPL stuff used from q3a, and ofcourse replace the q3 logo with the OA one.  which ive already started on, but before i devoted a a buttload of time to it, I was curious what you guys thought.

so,

post your thoughts on this please.

asking when OA3 will be done won't get OA3 done.

I do not provide technical support either.

I've written a "Team Fortress-esque" mod for Open Arena that is GPL. It's not a clone, but it does offer class-based teamplay. Players can choose from familiar preset classes like soldier or sniper, or create their own by choosing their starting weapons and armor class.

It's a bit rough around the edges, and pretty basic in comparison to Team Fortress, but the core functionality seems good.

I should also mention that I am doing a TF clone as well (XDFort). I've recently experimented with some ideas (cs support, vehicles support) that may or may not get into the game.

you can't gpl code you didn't write of a copyrighted production you didn't make.

Excellent. Cheesy

I'll look in to setting up a development repository of some sort, make life easy on us for merging changes. (I guess, I'm a bit of a newb, sounds interesting though.)
