Even if you know German, it's hard to read when you have the weapon bar, see the attached image.

You can set 'Always Show Weapon' Off in preferences. It might help alittle.

Try a higher resolution, it works perfectly with
seta cg_alwaysWeaponBar "1"
seta cg_teamChatHeight "5"
seta cg_teamChatTime "10000"
and 1024*768

Doesn't seem to work, see the attached image.
(EDIT: I also tried with 2560x1600, but it looks pretty much the same.)

On second thought, I actually think the weapon bar is pretty useless, I mean I should be able to remember what weapons I have, and with a little more effort I should be able to remember which ones have no ammo. ^^
