Good Servers

I'm looking for some Servers, located around New York, or in New Jersey. I am also looking to play with a few of you guys, please post the IP Address. Also how do i add Servers, to my favorites?

If you use linux, try installing "xqf" serverbrowser for lots of games,
On windows there are tons of tools.
i dont know which servers are close to new york,

You could also make aliases in a config file or as keybinds
bind F4 "connect 131.155.141.68:27960"
or seta fastweap "connect 131.155.141.68:27960"
and then from the console type /vstr fastweap

Well, what gametype to you like to play in??....IMO, I think you should be play Capture the Flag (CTF). It has most of the best players on that gametype and its the most fun. I actually live near New York and I play on a server called Nemesis and I hardly ever lag (the lower your ping, the less you lag). My ping is usually 48 which is pretty good. You can see alot of my teammates there from /V/ there as well. They won't mind showing ya the ropes of the game. There is alot of competition there and its a US server. Also, OAN is another US server you can try out.

The problem is that you have to have AUTODOWNLOAD turn on. You will have to go into your Settings > Game Options and turn it on from there, i believe. I think all the of the servers allow you to download their maps but you have to turn it on. OpenArena by default turn it off for security reasons. But its pretty safe when its on.

Nemesis is the server name. I believe it is using the baseoa mod builtin with OA. So, you'll be fine. Good Luck

or esc->setup -> gameoptions -> turn the bottom one of the settings on.

I run 3 of my 4 servers in such a way that noobs dont need to download.
but those are in europe so that is ping of about 80/90 from new york i think.

Nemesis does not change much of the gameplay, it is for the brightskins mostly.

CTF is more of a camper game, you know where the enemies will come from. It is a nice starter but it is not the TOTALNONSTOPACTION that free for all is.
I like to play different mods, openarena is such a versatile game. If you have never tried it before i would advise trying the defrag mod.

Look here at the pings of the players, players with ping 0 are bots, the others are humans. Pick one of the servers with lots of players and ping them from your PC.
[Winkey+R]cmd[enter]ping 91.121.27.170[enter] and look how much ping you have. The lower the better.
