Black Screen on Linux

First my config:
Kubuntu 7.10
ATI 3870 OC
Eizo FlexScan F730 (CRT)

I installed oa some days ago via the .deb file (tried with the .zip aswell). It is patched with the latest version. When starting up, I get a black screen and my screen is showing me my vertical and horizontal refresh rates with the OSD. The game runs perfectly (as far as I know) in the background and I can navigate through the menues with the arrow keys. With this method I can end the game and get back too the desktop without problems. There is no error message in the console. I just cannot see anything.
fglrx is installed and working fine as far as I can judge it. However, I haven't tried anything extraordinary (e.g. Compiz).

I hope someone can help me with this little problem since I like the game.

PS: I am not sure which version of fglrx is installed, since I did it with envy. Think it is 7-12, but as I said, I am not sure.

Ok, I coulnd'nt give up and tried things I haven't till now. Like updating my drivers. Stupid me. Works now!
