Hi,

Is there any way to get OA to store downloaded files, and recorded demos etc, in someplace other than the user's profile, as this is a problem if your machine is configured for roaming profiles ?

Using OA 0.76 on Windows XP SP2.

Cheers.

Phill.

Create a shortcut and add "+set fs_homepath D:\some_other_place"

I can't remember exactly how to enter it in Windows, but the command should work.

On 7.1 I had this saved as a bat file because I cannot use my C drive:

openarena.exe +set fs_homepath "D:\OpenArena\"

However, I did not have the same issue using the latest version. It worked more like Q3 file structure.

I suspect if you launch oa71 then do /cvarlist
.. then do the exact same thing on oa76 then you may find they are not the same.

I believed fs_basepath is the location of the game. fs_homepath is your home directory. On windows thats your apps folder. On linux its /home/yourname/.openarena

It could be the defaults are different, I did ask and waited patiently and got no response. Had to change my entire file system which was not so easy because of usage of mods, games and symbolic links. I'm sure there is some logical and simple clarification, but now I just want to foget about it.

If the system wasn't set up so efficiently it wouldnt have been an issue.

oooh flipster.. check google. Youll find answer located at the top 5 links. With all these lazy admins and parasites that reside here there is no quick fix.

Cheers for that, I used a variation that still allows different users to have their files in different
dirs, my command line is :-

G:\games\OpenArena\openarena.exe +set fs_homepath G:\GameSettings\OpenAreana\%USERNAME%

Cheers,

Phill.
