I pretty new to OA, but was wondering if anyone knows how to mod OA in linux (Ubuntu 7.04) or how to add maps?

Thank you Open Source!!!

To add maps, you take the ".pk3" go to your home directory, and find .openarena, its a hidden folder.

Once in .openarena go to baseoa and drag the .pk3 into it.

There is a variety of information on the forums on how to mod(create maps, models, textures etc), requires a bit of searching tho. Smiley

Hi.

I am adding my first new maps. I run a dedicated server (Linux). Do I need to add anything to the q3config.cfg or my modified server.cfg file?

I believe not, unless you want to cycle through them.

Thanks. I kind of figured I would have to add them to the list.

Related, as a test, I downloaded the High Quality map pak and extracted the first zip to the baseoa folder on my workstation, but I am not seeing them there when I fire up the game and go into single player mode. All I have is the basic Tier maps.
I'm doing something wrong, I know it. Any help?

I love OA and a couple of my friends have been visiting my server every night for the past month or so to play DM.
We are starting to get sick of the stock maps, however.
It is interesting how one of us will rule on one type of map, while absolutely sucking on a different environment.
Me? You do not want to get caught in a skinny hallway with me! ;-)

Make sure your placing the .pk3 into the baseoa directory. Also maps vary on what gametypes they support, so make sure you check through all the gametypes first. Smiley

Use the defrag mod, I overlooked this too but great for checking out a map from a huge list and screenshot with a mouse click to have a wander round
