I love the 0.7.x generation.
Anyway, this is mainly a bugfix release. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you upgrade from 0.7.6 to 0.7.7 (or rather, from 0.7.1 to 0.7.6 to 0.7.7 for half of you)

- Fixed "Getting stuck bug"
- Fixed logging bug
- Fixed UI crash
- Fixed overflow in Multiplayer list + Some of beast's changes to server list (longer names)
- Instantgib and All rockets disabled during single player startup
- Clears nextmap after single player
- Windows only: new SDL.dll allows Caps Lock and Num Lock to be used as keys.
- Using protocol number 69, this should only now show servers running 0.7.7 (In other words, no more lotsofservers with 'invalid game folder' error)

asking when OA3 will be done won't get OA3 done.
Progress of OA3 currently occurs behind closed doors alone

I do not provide technical support either.

Download the 0.7.6 release, then download the patch.  Extract 0.7.6, then extract the patch over it.

very well. :-)

remember, mac users: to correctly install this patch you must overwrite both your OpenArena application in oa main folder and the pak7-patch.pk3 inside baseoa.

The zip file contains a folder called openarena-0.7.6 that should overwrite your current openarena-0.7.6. Make sure that you overwrite the existing files replacing the files that needs replacement.

But its still the same that with 7.7 you cannot play on servers with older versions, right?  Its been quite a few weeks  since 7.6 and still most of the servers are 7.1 ......  Is it worth it to upgrade now?  Will this mean that once again playing online is basically not possible?

right. and multi-version online playing isn't something that will be introduced soon in oa (f at all).

the soon the better.

as people updates we will have more playable games online.

SO now I have the patch for mac... it would be really nice if these things came with *clear* instructions on how to install them.  What do I do with all of those files?  I now have so many baseOA folders from all the different recent versions and I don't know what to replace with what.
You say "overwrite files that need to be overwritten".... how do I know which ones that is?

Well it is a 0.7.6->0.7.7 patch so it is 0.7.6 that should overwritten.

All files from the patch will overwrite an old file. If a file does not need to be overwritten then it will not be in the patch.

on mac you just need to replace the OpenArena application (in the game's main folder) and pak7-patch.pk3 (in the baseoa that is in the same folder of the application).

funny though, now that the majority of servers have switched to 7.6 we have a new update... I certainly expect that once all servers are finally on 7.7 we will have another update so playing online remains frustrating Tongue (ha ha ha)
