I want to know more about making maps for OA
I know absolutely nothing, only experience doing anything like it was build on duke3d

What websites have relevant information, what programs do I use, where to get started learning what I need to know?

The application used for making OA maps is called GtkRadiant. You can download it from the official site: http://www.qeradiant.com/
This is a general mapping tool for the quake games and their derivatives. There are threads in this forum that explain how to configure radiant for OA.

Bubba's tutorials is a good place to start: http://bubba.planetquake.gamespy.com/tutorial.html

hello and welcome!

mapping for oa is more or less the same as mapping for quake 3 - which gives you a lot of tutorials all over the interweb!
there might be other mapping tools out there, but most of us use gtkradiant 1.5.0

openarena is not supported in gtkradiant from the beginning - you have to copy and edit some files first.
here's a short guide on steps to take: DO NOT LINK[/b]) h t t p s : / / openarena . wikia . com/wiki/Configure_GTK_under_windows]configure gtk under windows

here's a wikibook for gtkradiant that i found now when i wrote this reply: gtkradiant - wikibook

good luck Smiley

The files required to get Radiant 1.5 or Quark to use in Open Arena is in the svn.

The radiant files are here: http://brie.ostenfeld.dk/~poul19/public_files/radiant1_5_openarena.zip

but you will still need to change oa.game if you want GtkRadiant to automatically launch the game for you.
