I always have a problem trying to shoot my bot in lightmap mode.

http://q3eu.com/flash/wtf10/

(this was the darkest map out them all, any other would have blown up my monitor Cheesy - shadows are set at 3)

Is this even a real technical issue? Or is it subliminal pro-vertex propaganda?

I do not provide technical support either.

I havent used vertex, maybe contact lenses would help

r_stencilbits 8
cg_shadows 2 (cant remember if its the right syntax)

.. then up the gamma and it woks quite nice for people who like brightlight!

erm.. technical issues... well, not really, but some people are getting confused between delag correction because they haven't figured out that other people get better... they remain the same if they have superior network. The correction issue is with the models. Compare against the default team model and the difference is very noticable. People will probably start assuming it's related to delag and maxpackets so hopefully that will end their attempts at changing config settings in vain Cheesy  That is assuming they dont have any other problem such as ridiculous graphics settings. Maybe they dont realise the difference between performance and optimum detail. Worth noting as quite often assumptions will just end up in pointless discussion.

cg_shadows 2 is cpu intensive

Thats what I thought too.. but on windows the game will chew up all the cpu anyway. I'm sure I seen shadows that are more realistic rather than the normal dark area below the player.

aah. i just found this which seems to explain it.. http://groups.obliter8.com/node/695

I guess the shadows are still there but  the stencil bits hide it, has a strange effect on some maps. I didnt have any issues with performance but my graphic settings are usually low.

don't even use stencilbits alien if it's used it'll make the shadows look crappy. if anything use 32
