hi, im pretty new to all this, hopefully this is a simple problem - When i come to build my map i get the following error...

Failed to execute the following command: "C:/Program Files/GtkRadiant 1.5.0/oamap.exe" -v -connect 127.0.0.1:39000 -fs_basepath "C:/Program Files/OpenArena/" -game quake3  -patchmeta -meta -flares "C:/Program Files/OpenArena/baseoa/maps/gOOD .map"
Check that the file exists and that you don't run out of system resources.

could anybody help me get it working?

My first idea to what could be wrong is the the space in "gOOD .map".

It is just a thought but it is often the problem then a file is not found.

Well that could be the reason. I don't know if anyone has an oamap.exe you can use q3map2.exe instead (there is only a very small difference)

There is a diff file in svn but I have never gotten q3map2 to compile in the first place.

You need the source for q3map2 (I think it is included in id's source release)
Then the source should be patched with the diff file
And finally it should be compiled... and good luck with that.

I failed but I might have tried harder if I didn't have a working copy of q3map2

The problem doesn't come from you. I'm sure you used the files in the archive called "radiant1_5_openarena.zip", didn't you ?

I just tested with these and it just don't work. It tries to use a compiler that doesn't exist at all (oamap.exe, when the compilers are q3map.exe and q3map2.exe, why do you want to change all names everytime ? What's the point when this is exactly the same program ?)

Here's the files I use:

/EDIT: I've found some bug so I corrected them. Here are two package, one for OA v0.7.1 and one for OA v0.7.7

http://rapidshare.com/files/128533239/GTKRadiant_OAPatch_v0.7.1.zip.html
http://rapidshare.com/files/128533268/GTKRadiant_OAPatch_v0.7.7.zip.html

Maybe someone could upload them to SVN or directly on the website to ease the start of new mappers ?
