The more I play OA the more I find that some players seem to have rediculous amounts of health or cause rediculous amounts of damage. If you put a handicap on yourself, will it take effect in multiplayer or just one player? Are there mods to increase your speed? Are there mods to amp up your damage/health? And finally, is there a way to tell if someone is cheating? I guess I'm just tired of shooting someone in the face 3 times or more with the railgun with no result and being killed myself with a single shotgun shot when I have full health and armor (or at least that's how it seems). Thanks :]

With full health and armour (200/200) you can take 3 rail shots and still have health left over - you just need to whored armour and health, more so in duels - only engage yoru opponent when you have atleast 300 combined health. And no one cheats, they're just better than you - if you see people moving at 3x normal speed it's called strafe jumping, it's a skill. Also people who put handicaps on are stupid and don't understand what they are - they work in multiplayer but they handicap YOU! Normaly you start off with 120 health, and the first 20 points count down when the round begins until you have 100 then your helth stops counting down - with a 95 handicap you start off with 115 health and it counts down to 95 - with a 5 handicap you start off with 25 health and it counts down to 5!

If you want to get better read these and maybe ytou will start to understand more that people arn't cheating:

A tip in order to survive in matches is not to find instantly an enemy to kill. Some players will wait for you to pursue them to kill you, and while they aren't "chasing", they collect all the items they can, unless (or not) if they find you in their way.

First than nothing, go searching for better weapons than MG, and lots of health and armor. And then, you can use RL and GL to cause splash damage, (and hit directly) LG and MG for constant hitting, RG to hit directly, SG in close combat, PG and BFG to spam (Tongue) etc.

Also, item timing (also called Map Control, I guess) is a good thing.

And another thing, if you got Q3A, download some demos (some of them may require some mod -or version of it- like CPMA or OSP) from sites like ClanBase or QuakeCon, and watch them in order to learn some things.

"Detailed" is nice, but if it gets in the way of clarity, it ceases being a nice addition and becomes a problem. - TVT
