Also, there are 2 maps in the SVN Commits thread missing at page 2: boczeq's blitzkrieg (Attached) and another map of mine. (Direct link)
These will be released with the next version?

Ah, and for some reason I found that maps in this version runs much well than in 0.8.0. :/
At least, that's my case.

Okay It has nothing with framerate i think but look at this: GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem
Thats what appears when I click in legacy folder openarena-legay.exe

looks like your graphics card can't load open gl properly. try to install the newest drivers for your graphics card.

@TheRottenAngel,
Did you try standard binaries ?
Note: to use legacy binaries, you have to move them in openarena installation directory.

What is your graphic card ? Possible your driver is causing the problem.

You may also try to change game resolution, you could do that manually editing q3config.cfg. (search on this forum about resolution issues for more infos)

Just poppend into my mind: fromhell, what was the cunning (or whatever adjective you used) plan with OA 081, that was to unify all the players?
BTW I like that new hit-sound, really funny when you are frying someone with a lightning and all you hear is di-di-di-di-di-di-ding

I don't know how to explain, so I'll be direct: executable files whose use is to replace OA exe file in case that it doesn't work in Win9X. It doesn't has support for IPv6 unlike normal binaries.

(Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

If I'm not wrong :

Legacy binaries are builds which are based upon an older revision of ioquake3 engine.
Standard binaries are builds which are based upon a recent revision of ioquake3 engine.

Windows 9x compatible build is called "openarena-deprecated.exe". Only one is available, and it's based upon a recent revision of ioquake3 engine.

Happy halloween!

- Uses protocol 71
- Single player campaign re-organized (Thanks cosmo)
- 'Depreciated' client for Windows 9X in addition (lacks ipv6 support)
- New hitsound
- New map: ps37ctf
- New map: ctf_gate1
- New map: am_galevish
- Space Marine should no longer crash on old client
- Chaingun works in unlagged now
- non-Free texture folders from previous release removed (this also removes the schism and q3dm6ish-v2 map)

Get it from the files page!

I see that FileFront has these files hosted on their site as well.  Here is the link if you want to update the downloads page to add their link:

wrong!
"depreciated" is the 9x compatible binary
Legacy is the binary based on older 0.7.1 which also works for 9x but it is NOT supported.

I'm really liking 0.8.1 Smiley
The new hit sound resembles (exactly) a cow bell, but surprisingly it's very tolerable. The new maps are great too. Good job Cheesy

This game is AWESOME! I am so impressed!
The oa081.zip file from /svn installs straight into Ubuntu, no worries :-)
Considering the package available from the Ubuntu repository is still 0.7.7 it is great that the latest release installs without headaches.
Well done OA team!

I'm willing to bet that those other games use Direct3D rather than OpenGL.  Microsoft is notorious for crappy OpenGL drivers, and probably does this intentionally.  You're probably screwed until card manufacturers start releasing drivers for Windows 7.
